Here's my first full-color Smurf Sampler, a three-page gag story called "Flower Power". Based on a Smurf comics panel here on BlueBuddies where Gargamel nets Smurfette while she's picking flowers, there are quite a few twists to the familiar damsel-in-distress story.
The original comic panel had Smurfette wearing a dress with red polka dots. Polka dots do appear in my story, but not in a way you'd expect.
Enjoy and provide your feedback.

@ Sassette: Yup, that's the one! Thanks for posting it as a reference.
Back around 1984 or so Marvel Comics published an oversize comic book of reprints from the Studio Peyo comic books. I don't believe Marvel itself did the drawings or stories, and I vaguely remember this being part of that reprint.
I do remember that Smurfette was portrayed as being that "dainty damsel in distress" who always had to be rescued by the other Smurfs. She also had panic attacks when there was a crack in her mirror because she thought it was a wrinkle on her skin and she was growing old. A far, far cry from the feisty Smurfette I and countless others remember and love on the TV show.
As for that polka dot dress, here's a little Vaudeville-type skit:
Vexy: Oh gee, Smurfette! Is that a dress with red polka dots you're wearing or does it have pimples?
Smurfette (firing back): Well, you obviously don't like what you see, do you, Vex? (smiles) I sewed it together myself.
Vexy (smiling): Actually, it looks real smurfy. But ya know how I like ta kid with you, yeah?
Smurfette: Vexy, with a name like yours and as my best friend, you wouldn't be you if you didn't... zebra!
Vexy: Ah, touche!

Don't ever, ever call Smurfette a worm if you value your smurf in any way, shape or smurf. ![[Smurfette]](graemlins/smurfette.gif)

Do you know what the name of that comic is, the one with Smurfette in Polka-dots?

Great to see and read this, Richrod! Congrats on the completion of your first full strip. The fainting scene was hilarious. Smurfy work; thanks for sharing it with us.

If you're referring to the specific story, I don't know. The Marvel Comics oversize reprint was simply called "Smurfs", and I would take a guess a digital version of that reprint may be right here on BlueBuddies.
Marvel probably published the English-language reprints because at the time it was the only major comic book publisher publishing licensed works from other companies--Lucasfilm, Hanna-Barbera, Hasbro, Mattel, etc. There was a lot of money to be made from outsourcing itself to those companies for comics adaptations.
