I grew up with Saturday Morning Cartoons, and of course, this is when my fixation with Smurfs started. Back then, in the 70's and 80's, comic books were famous for advertising the 3 network's (NBC, ABC, CBS) cartoon lineups, that were to begin in September. Since the smurfs were on TV practically throughout the 80's, I decided it would be neat to collect these ads for that decade that featured them. And it didn't hurt that the ads featured all my other favourite characters/shows, too.
In searching for a complete set, I had to go find and buy old comics that carried the ad (not all comic titles carried the ads, so it was a bit frustrating), and because I was already doing the legwork to search these out for my collection, it would not be too much extra effort to put aside a second set, for selling to another interested collector of smurfs (or retro cartoon characters, in general).
So this is what I recently decided to post for selling. It's the complete set of Saturday Morning Cartoon full-colour advertisements from the big three TV networks featured in comics from 1980-1989. Between NBC, CBS and ABC, there are close to twenty ads (not every network advertised every year), many are double-page spreads. Has all the Saturday morning cartoon characters you can imagine!! Perfect for wall art. All ads are mint condition, unremoved from original comic. I only have one set of these and it's only available as a set. I also found a 1990 and 1991 ad, so I'll throw those in as well. Below is a list of characters you will find throughout these ads. The set is $85 U.S. (plus shipping).
