Okay, kids, here's my first fanfic on these boards, in the format of the one-page gags that Studio Peyo cranks out. I call them "Smurf Samplers". Smurfette and Vexy are caught in a rainfall and Hefty tries to be a gentleman.

Note: "You da kine" is Hawaiian Pidgin, and in this context means "You're smurfy!" Vexy's smurf-cabulary in these Samplers includes Hawaiianisms such as "da kine", "yeah?", "eh?" and "whop yo jaws" (actually "whop yer smurfs")--all a reflection of my many visits to Hawaii.
This is a thumbnail sketch, and often how most comic and animation stories are developed. If you do a YouTube search for Robb Armstrong, who draws the newspaper comic strip "Jump Start", you'll see how he creates an actual Sunday strip in front of his fans in this manner.
Enjoy the sketch. More to follow in just a smurf.

Alright, as promised, here is "Sassette's Aunt", the black-and-white ink drawings just completed today. It's how the little tomboy smurfling adopts the equally tomboyish Vexy as her very own smurfy aunty in the tradition of Hawaiian ohana and other world cultures.

The story basically ends here, but there are a few more pages to add. In this story Vexy has the "super smurfy power" of earth-shaking primal screams that can literally level the entire Smurf Village and everything within a five-mile radius--a side effect of the smurfiness potion she gulped in "Smurfs 2". With her short temper that's pretty dangerous.
Part of the storyline is what will be a running gag between Brainy and Smurfette, both assistants in Papa's lab, where bossy Brainy calls Smurfette Papa's "second-in-command" (which in the Smurf movies she actually is) in a very insulting and unsmurfy way. In principle there is no #2 Smurf in the village, but in practice Smurfette really is the #2 Smurf because she's a real help in Papa's lab, taking well-written notes and keeping the lab organized, while Brainy being Brainy is pretty much useless with his unsolicited advice.
The rest of the BW story will be forthcoming, but for now enjoy the short version. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Another story idea inspired by what I consider the horrible final season of the original TV series, specifically the episode "A Fish Called Snappy"...
"Fresh Snapper". Same idea, different setting.
While on a trip to the beach, the Smurfs meet Serena, a kind, gentle but hopelessly scatterbrained water sprite who accidentally turns Snappy into a fish, then forgets it ever happened. (She has self-esteem issues, so to speak.)
While Papa Smurf tries to track Serena down and undo the spell, the fish Snappy is forced to live in a fishbowl in Papa's lab. His restless personality as a fish drives the Smurfs insane, particularly wanting to jump out of the bowl because it's too small.
Worse yet, he's become a temptation to dim-witted Hackus, who tries to grab him and cook him up for dinner--even going so far as to try eating him alive as a "smurfy sushi". When Vexy comes to the rescue and scolds him "You idiot! Don't you ever think of anysmurf other than food?!?" Hackus stupidly answers,"Uhhhh... MORE food?"
A sidebar would be that Smurfette and Hefty are great surfers. Smurfette goes into the water without the familiar hat because she's going to get wet anyway and doesn't want to lose her hat if she wipes out. Hefty, however, insists on keeping his hat on because he lacks what Smurfette has... hair.
This would be one fan's way of making pono (Hawaiian for righteousness) for how Season 9 went down in flames. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like it's the first time you've heard of the Snappy-as-a-fish storyline. The original animated story can be found on YouTube (and definitely on this site as well) under the title "A Fish Called Snappy", itself a play on the title of the 1980's slapstick comedy film "A Fish Called Wanda".
As for "Sassette's Aunt", true blue Smurf fans may notice an immediate deviation from the "Smurf canon"--I rejected the storyline of Grandpa gone from the village for 500 years in a quest to save the little blue race as written in the 1986 Hanna-Barbera TV movie "SmurfQuest". I never liked the idea of a young Papa Smurf being abandoned by his own father, even if it was for his own survival, then suddenly having Grandpa reappear unannounced. It sounds too much like the very real problem of absent fathers and broken families many young Smurf fans deal with every day, and it's just too depressing.
Since it's fan fiction, I retconned the Grandpa character so that he's lived his entire life in the village, and the 500 years now refers to his periodic globetrotting trips during those centuries, always keeping in touch with the Smurfs back home on his travels through magic letters that zap instantly into the village--similar to email today. In fact, it IS called email, short for "enchanted mail", you see.
This retcon is just one fan's idea. Everysmurf is free to agree or disagree.

Yet another story idea...
"Valley of the Smurfettes", an off-the-wall Smurf parody of "Planet of the Apes" and "Land of the Lost". Smurfette and Vexy are both frustrated with what clueless jerks the male Smurfs can sometimes be. Then one day the two friends both fall down a ravine, bump their heads and get knocked unconscious. Together they have a nightmare of finding a Smurfette Village (not the same as the village in other fanfics on this site), which is populated by angry, Type A female Smurfs who are outrageous over-the-top versions of their male counterparts, who are enemies on the run and who do not recognize Smurfette and Vexy.
Just before they wake up from the dream, a very cranky Nanny Smurf condemns them for being friendly with the boys and sentences them to death by being thrown into a giant lake of chamomile tea (Smurfette's favorite drink) with room for cream and sugar.
Again, this is meant to be just plain silly. The gags in "Sassette's Aunt" are an example of that silliness.

Wow.. I was thinking of a Three Stooges thing where I create 3 smurfs for that, having their similarities to their Human counterparts Moe, Larry and Curly... I haven't given them names yet, but they will wreck everything with silly antics and they often knock each other into trouble... just sayin'

I would say go for it. And Smurfette would say "Let's smurf this!" ![[Smurfette]](graemlins/smurfette.gif)

I'm drawing up thumbnail sketches for "Valley of the Smurfettes". One of the scenes involves all the girl Smurfs having a tea party in the forest when they hear Gutsy yelling "FORE!!!" as his golf ball lands right into Vexy's coffee mug, splashing java all over her smurf. Obsessed with the game, Gutsy runs onto the picnic sheet, stomps on all the tea cups and goodies, and bellows "Sorry, lassies, but the Rules of Golf dictate to play the ball where it smurfs!" He then shouts fore, swings at Vexy's mug with his golf club, and smashes it to bits while she's still holding it. Gutsy then chases after the ball with his caddy Clumsy close behind.
Another scene: Vexy complains loudly to Papa Smurf about all the Smurfs being such clueless jerks, with Smurfette in agreement, then angrily asking what can be done about them. Papa them camly replies, "Well, Vexy, let me respond in the form of a question. Do YOU think I'm a clueless jerk?"
Caught in a corner, Vexy stutters, "Uh, well... I, you see Pops, I--" and is interrupted by a game-show buzzer a la "The Price is Right". (Papa pressed a button on his countertop.)
"I'm sorry, Vexy, that's not the answer I was looking for," Papa replies in his best Alex Trebek tone. He then tells her he knew she only made that statement in a fit of anger, but doing so all the time would come back to haunt her later--a wise smurfy lesson in making rash statements. Something a lot of bloggers could learn from. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Wonderful ideas here! And the collapsing portabella was hilarious. I hope we see all these in their final form soon.

Aloha fellow Smurfs... here's another idea that came to me after church last night.
"Smurf Scouts"--Hefty is leader of the aforementioned scouts, all Smurflings (Sassette, Snappy, Slouchy and Nat) and similar to a Cub Scout pack. The kids are looking forward to a camping trip, but Hefty breaks his leg in an accident and it looks like the campout may be scuttled. When Vexy visits Hefty's hut to offer get-well wishes, he asks if she could fill in for him as scoutmaster since she's already a seasoned survivalist and gets along with the Smurflings so well. She reluctantly agrees for the sake of the kids.
Playing it by smurf (uh, by ear actually), Scoutmaster Vexy stumbles along with the campout and all goes actually well until a menacing hawk grabs two of the scouts while they're hiking. She saves the day--and follows the Smurf Scoutmaster Code of the Pack to the letter--earning her a permanent role as Assistant Scoutmaster.
Rather than simply posting text messages of my story ideas, I plan to upload the thumbnail sketches as drawn up in my notebook. They'll look as messy as Sloppy Smurf, but I'm encouraged by all the smurfy feedback to my ideas and I think it's worth seeing how these ideas actually look as I smurf them up.

It's me again. I've returned to animating my video "So You Think You Can Smurf". To fastrack the production process, I will be inserting animatics (storyboard frames) for in-production frames as seen in the director's interview for "Smurfy Hollow".
I'm also adding more of a proper storyline. It begins with Narrator Smurf reading from a book called "Smurf Fairy Tales - Abridged" to the Smurflings and Baby, with Nanny Smurf listening as well. It's a story about a Smurf who liked to dance, and it will be the lead-in to Smurfette's dance routine. The setting will be the Hanna-Barbera universe with the film characters grafted in.
And by necessity, I will be doing all the character voices (just two)--Narrator and Smurfette. The latter is done by adding a little bit of gravel to my voice and kicking it up four octaves in Audacity. Frank Welker or Mel Blanc I'm not. Any ladies who can do a good Lucille Bliss or Katy Perry impersonation of Smurfette, please contact me if interested in recording a few seconds of lines so I spare myself the embarrassment of doing it myself (LOL). ![[Clown Smurf]](graemlins/Clown_Smurf.gif)

Okay, I just finished the latest cut of that animated video "So You Think You Can Smurf", with myself providing the voices of Narrator Smurf and (via special effects) Smurfette. Please be kind in your comments on how Smurfette sounds; it's just a scratch track.
In it Narrator introduces to the Smurflings a Smurf Fairy Tale about a Smurf who loved to dance. See how many characters from the TV series and films you can recognize as the two universes happily mash up to create something entirely smurfy.
So You Think You Can Smurf (October 2 2013; work in progress)
The latest cut of my Smurf fan animation in progress, with a few animatics (storyboards) inserted to fastrack production and fill out the story. I recorded speaking parts for Narrator Smurf and (via special effects) Smurfette. They're only scratch tracks, so hopefully I'll find a volunteer for the female part.
