I want everyone to know i didn't mean anyharm to any of you Smurfs, let's move on to becoming pals.
I do believe the Smurfs tv series jump the shark really fast in the 5th season and the 9th season seem like they were running out of ideas what to do with the show.

I think they jumped the shark at some point around seasons 4-6.

Now that i think about it, the Smurfs 1986-1987 seasons seem like they were running out of steam really fast to me.

For me the show never jumped the shark more like they were jumped the whole program. The newer more exciting shows are in the radar and Saturday Morning Cartoon itself is on the decline in the late 80s. To be honest for a studio with limited budget (H-B) the decline of the series was inevitable. The Smurfs actually got all the charms and magic but studio just couldn't gave its new life due to production cost and tight schedules of that NBC gave. Hanna Barbera did at their best at the time so I'll give them a big respect for that.

I think 1988-1989 was when the TV series Jumped The Shark, 1987 seemed to be doing clearly fine just like the first 6 seasons...I'm not saying that Seasons 8&9 were bad (though I seriously think that season 9 should have been a series called Smurfs Time Travellers or a movie myself as season 9 is somewhat the same thing in a way, with some decent differences throughout the episodes)..I just believe that it lost popularity at that time.
However, thanks to the Time Travellers role-play..it kinda inspires me to make a Flash movie of it sometime (with credit to SMURFETTE for making the original role-play)..maybe late 2012/early 2013??? WHO KNOWS! But I think making a Smurfs movie can get appeal, how many minutes do you suggest?

It seems to me the 1986-1987 seasons seem to show signs that the Smurfs were starting to run out of steam to me. I forgot that their is a Smurf game called Time Travellers role play, Season 9 was pretty much the same.

The de-aging the original adult Smurfs characters thing pretty much ruin the Smurf feel of the show. The writers could had done an much better job with doing the origin of the Smurflings by easily having Gargamel trying to do some crazy cloning spell on Natural Smurf, Snappy Smurf, Slouchy Smurf in an attemp to destroy the Smurfs would had been more better then having them become kids all over again.

Thank you Jokie Smurf. For some odd reason Seasons 8 and 9 of the Smurfs never aired on Cartoon Network in the mid 90s, heck those two seasons haven't even aired on Boomerang either.

I was never a fan of the Smurflings episode because i didn't like how they added the Smurflings to the show, i do believe they could have done an much better job with this episode without the de-aging the three adult Smurfs characters to kids all over again.

Hmm maybe they just should have already had Smurflings at the beginning and not have turned older Smurfs younger, like Baby Smurf was introduced in Season 3 as already a baby and not another Smurf who's been turned into one

If Nat smurfling was still an adult i think he might seem like a replacement for Tracker Smurf.
I think they could have made the smurflings come in differently (like maybe Smurfette finds some lost smurflings in the forest)
I never thought they jumped the shark but my favorite seasons are 1,2 and 3.

I wouldn't had mind if they had brought the Smurflings in the show another way, that way Nat,Snappy, and Slouchy wouldn't had been turn young all over again.
But the show did "jump the shark".
My favourite seasons are seasons 1,2, 3 and 4.

I was never really an fan of the Smurflings, besides the fact people do have mixed opinions on the Smurflings and the whole de-aging the three Adult Smurfs characters aswell.
Seasons 1-4 were the best seasons for the Smurfs tv show, because the 1985 season pretty much ruin the show with de-aging the original Adult Smurfs into Smurflings again. The 1986-1987 seasons started to shown signs that the show was running out of steam, with GrandPa Smurf and Scruple being added to the show, the end was very much near.
