The Smurfs were featured in amazing sand castles as part of the Sand Sculpture Festival in Belguim. It is the world's biggest sand sculpture festival!
 Smurf Sand Castles in Belguim
Sand Smurf: Belgian cartoon favorites, The Smurfs, are recreated in amazing detail for one of the exhibits. An incredible 10,000 tons of sand were needed for this project, which is the biggest festival of that kind in the world
Sand Sculpture Festival - June 2012
Around 40 'sand artists' from around the world attended the Sand Sculpture Festival on the beach of Blankenberge in Belgium. Over 10,000 tonnes of sand was used to create the amazing 'sand village' as part of the festival's 20th anniversary.
The festival, which runs until the end of the month, has a fairytale theme and includes majestic castles and enchanting palaces as well as a host of comic book favorites.
A spokesman said: 'This year the Sand Sculpture Festival in Blankenberge will bring to life fairytales by the Brothers Grimm and Walt Disney, as well as the magical stories of Charles Dickens and J.K. Rowling and so many other famous tales from the world of myths and legends.
'Not only will all the best-known and best-loved fairy tales be on show, but also great legends and fables from the four corners of the earth, which will allow you to relive that magical days of yesteryear."
Visitors can take walk-through tours of the sand village where other comic book favorites such as Tintin and the Smurfs are also on display.

Those sand statues in Bulgaria look amazing, chiefly due to great details - eg Smurfette's hair, Papa's beard and Brainy's cap folds - and I love Clumsy's close-up, as well as the smiling Smurf head! And the little Smurf figurine seems feel so free on the beach, not wanting to lose anything of the party! And here's Smurf having a great time in Portugal - among his sunbather friend (so perfect) and little figurine brothers in their sand village! Thanks a smurf for showing, Sassette!

Agreed. Official Smurf or not, I see Vexy more as a teenager or adolescent than an adult.
I have an idea for a new Smurf Sampler where Smurfette is napping on the sand under an umbrella. When she wakes up she sees all those Smurfs around her admiring her beauty sighing "Hi, Smurfette!" Vexy suddenly appears from behind the umbrella and asks "Hey, who's your admirers?" The Smurfs suddenly gasp "Bye, Vexy!" and run away.
Poor thing. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)
