I decided it's time to try my hand at creating my version of the Smurfettes for the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series, so I started creating several characters for my group at Smurfs Fanon Wiki.

Where my version of the Smurfettes differs from Raven Child's version is in a few things.

1. Uniformity. The original concept of the Smurfs is basically that they're uniform beings, and I think that should be maintained as much as possible for the female counterparts. The problem and the challenge is that female cartoon characters tend to be variants of the standard male model and thus rely on things such as what TV Tropes calls Tertiary Sexual Characteristics to distinguish them from the male characters. If the female characters are going to have a standard appearance, then the least that could be done with them is try to give them different-colored hair as well as hairstyles that suit each individual character. Not that I don't think Raven Child's Smurfettes are good; they just don't fit the original concept of uniformity.

2. Names. I personally don't like having the characters being named with an "-ette" variant of the male character names, so I decided to get really creative and find names that are suitable for the character being a female counterpart of the standard male character. So far, the characters names I have given to my Smurfettes, and the male characters they correspond to are:

* Sympathy (Empath)
* Librarian (Brainy)
* Artemis (Hefty)
* Gadget (Handy)
* Gourmandine (Greedy)
* Glamour (Vanity)
* Raspberry (Jokey)
* Gooseberry (Clumsy)
* Broccoli (Grouchy)
* Lullaby (Lazy)
* Celestia (Dreamy)
* Fluorescent (Painter)
* Rhyme (Poet)
* Melody (Harmony)
* Georgine (Farmer)
* Couturiere (Tailor)
* Jasmine (Medic)
* Thespian (Actor)
* Dazzle (Presto)
* Siobhan (Tapper)
* Brenda McSmurfette (Duncan McSmurf)
* Banshee (Crazy)
* Storyteller (Narrator)

Anyway, that's all I have to say about my version for now. Please share your thoughts.

I was thinking of something that would make people go "eewww" and typically broccoli is a very displeasing vegetable to eat. So her personality would come off as something that would make her fellow Smurfettes think of something very displeasing.

Not for me. I love broccoli, chiefly with Alfredo sauce or mayonnaise. [yum!]

I enjoyed all the names, they were very well chosen. [Happy Smurf]
