I almost wish I was alive when my parents were kids so there would be millions of smurf fans out there. Now most people think smurfs are pathetic and think only kids can enjoy them (and some kids don't even like them).
Also, I'm wondering why the Smurfs 2011 got such a bad rating on rottentomatoes.com

i agree about facebook, Sportette, although it's not my homepage. Google is. i spend the majority of my time online on facebook though, even more than here, i'm afraid :-D
Chloette, a lot of people didn't like the smurfs using "smurf" in place of swears is what i heard. i disagree with them...people have been using swears for years. some originals were shucks and darn...then all of a sudden there were the other ones people use today that i will not say here, and somehow those are worse. i don't understand why...it's the same concept...using a single word to express negative feelings...the only word i can really see as being foul, myself, would be the f word...but i do not see why people are so against the smurfs using the word "smurf" as we would say shucks or darn or something else...
also, a lot of people don't like Gutsy. they say he ruined it and took Hefty's place. not true, in my opinion, simply because even in the comics and cartoon, the same group of smurfs did not always go on every adventure. it was changed up slightly now and then. i don't see why it's suddenly so wrong for the producers of the movie to do the same. it's their movie after all, so why not add their own little touch? besides that, Gutsy and Hefty are two entirely separate smurfs. Hefty was all about muscle and exercise, a strongman...Gutsy was all about bravado.
those are just my opinion though. to each their own.

Yea...I disagree too, besides it's so much better for children's ears! (to hear smurfs instead of OTHER words)

That is very true Nurturer. Plus, I think it's a good thing that most (or all) of us don't know what Smurfity smurf smurf smurf smurf means. But it seems to offend the smurfs. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)
