Infact: Nanny was turned into a coin, as was Sassette, so she is the only Smurfette in the village!

We got most episodes from this Torrent thing and it didn't include all episodes. The version of "to coin a smurf" that we got was bad quality so we've never seen it. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

That's not true! Smurfette wasn't the only girl Smurf. Sassette was there 'til the end, right through the very end of Season 9. Here she is in the second-to-last episode of Season 9 (the Smurfs final season). She doesn't get turned into a gold coin (but she does get turned into a monkey for awhile if I recall):
Sassette in Season 9's "Brainy's Beastly Boo Boo"
Sassette and Snappy in Season 9 "Swashbuckling Smurfs"
See Sassette's alive and well. So she's definitely not the only female Smurf.
But theres only one actual female Smurf in the village at the beginning of Season 9! You read the right guys!! The only female Smurf in the village is Nanny Smurf, who is left behind with the other Smurfs in "The Smurfs That Time Forgot".
I'm pretty sure no one is turned into gold coins at the very end of the series. But in "To Coin a Smurf", Grandpa, Brainy and Sassette get turned into coins. (But not Nanny). In "The Smurfs and the Money Tree", Greedy and Gargamel are on the coin faces.

Yeah, that's right Smurfy1for2.
And we have no idea what happened to Nanny when the smurfs are time traveling, plus we have no idea if the smurfs ever make it back to their village. I wish they made a final episode where they return to the village. ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

Actually, this happened in a segment to release the 2011 film...NONE of this appeared in the episode. Sassette and Nanny turned to coins as part of the film process.
I think this little mini-movie was called Gragamels Gold.

The 2011 film is not considered part of the series canon.
I can find no record of "Gargamel's Gold", or anything remotely similar to it on the Smurf Blu-Ray, the Smurf DVD, or the Bonus DVD. I searched each video file of the disc. I have also searched through the various promotional videos Sony released in the lead-up to the film's premiere and found nothing.
Has anyone else in the world besides Smurfette seen "Gargamel's Gold", or a similar video where Nanny is turned into a coin? I do not believe it exists and would like evidence to the contrary.

Hmm don't know where you're smurfin from Smurfette. I only have the Smurfs Movie in a Special Addition but without the Christmas Mini-Movie, so I aven't seen that, or any other Mini-Movies. Hmmm, the prospect of them eternally stuck in the form of Gold Coins does seem a bit sinister for the Smurfs, and very ironic considerin the Smurfs don't actually use Gold at all. Hmm...

I actually think Vexy is Sassette because:
1. The are both tomboys
2. They are both Smurfette's sister (in one way or another)
3. They both consider Gargamel their father
4. They are both made from the same formula as Smurfette
5. Vexy was even called a "sassy lassie" at the end of "The Smurfs 2"
Also, Gargamel couldn't turn Smurfs into gold since that concept wasn't use in the movie!

Vexy and Sassette are NOT the same character. Also Sassette's name being a portmanteau of "sassy" and "Smurfette", given her origin in the cartoon show, the "sassy" part was NOT meant as a compliment, but as a criticism of her pre-Smurf behavior.

VicGeorge, why can't you accept it? Even though the difference to how the "sassy" part was said in the cartoon and how it was said in "The Smurfs 2" doesn't mean they aren't the same character! Also, Vexy's pre-Smurf behavour is similar to Sassette's if you look closer (Vexy causing trouble with Azrael is similar to Sassette causing trouble with the Smurfs)!

An interesting discussion. Regardless of the films mentioned or rumored so far, officially there are now four female Smurfs.
Smurfette, introduced in 1966; Sassette, in 1985; Nanny, in 1988; and Vexy, in 2013.
All four appear in the online video game My Smurf Village. So if Nanny and Sassette really were turned into coins, apparently the spell was reversed. Where sorcery and evil are concerned, Gargamel isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
In my own Smurf fan art, all four girls are shown together on a regular basis.
The argument that Smurfette is still the only girl in the village may be in part from a new generation of Smurf fans who never heard of them until the Sony movies came out. Keep in mind the Hanna-Barbera show many of us grew up on debuted over 30 years ago. (Sigh, and I wish Sony would consider a brand new Smurf TV series.)

Sweet Smurf, you're NOT listening to anyone but yourself on this. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME CHARACTER, PERIOD, AND I ALREADY TOLD YOU WHY. I WILL NOT DISCUSS THIS ANY FURTHER.

Okay, when Gutsy called Vexy a "sassy lassie", SURELY Vexy must be thinking of a name! Isn't it obvious? What else could she be thinking? We never seem to hear any of the characters think in the live-action Smurfs movies like we do with "The Spectacular Spider-Man" and "Dog with a Blog" so you'll never know!

Well, Sweet, when Gutsy called Vexy that way, he wasn't really meaning 'Sassette', but simply describing her as petulant. By the way, the auburn Smurfling girl was created by Nat, Slouchy and Snappy using the same magic Gargy did to create Smurfette: with magic clay (blue in the cartoon, blue-painted in the original comics). And since Vexy's color was originally grey and she and Hackus had become blue just at the end of the movie, it can be concluded they are totally different. ![[Smurfette]](graemlins/smurfette.gif)

A very lively discussion... I just love them all! They each have their own personality and they actually complement one another.
Here's some of my fan art of Smurfette, Sassette, Nanny and Vexy together. I recolor Vexy's hair brown, but occasionally return to black for the Vexy fans who prefer her official look.
