Did you know that our little blue friends favorites Sarsaparilla is also one of the main ingredients of root beer!
Next time if you want to have a little bit of taste of smurfs be sure have some root beer in the fringe! [yum!]
Many may already know that.
This will make you like root beer much more. [Wink]
Some facts of the Smilax regelli:
Sarsaparilla is used as the basis for a soft drink sold for its taste, frequently of the same name, or called Sasparilla. It is also a primary ingredient in old fashioned style root beer,in conjunction with Sassafras, which was more widely available prior to studies of the potential health risks of sassafras.
Just make sure you don't drink it too much.

I wonder if that's also one of the ingredients in the Dr. Pepper soda formula, because it tastes like a mashing of root beer and cherry cola.

Interesting that the Smurfs like sarsaparilla even though the plant the flavoring is from is not native to where they live (Medieval Europe), but the New World (Central and South America). However, since the Smurfs live in an alternative universe that does not always conform to our reality (North American animals like skunks living in an European forest), such anarchonisms are forgivable.
