Hello folks! BlueTiger10 here! This summer, I'm going to visit FAO Schwarz, and evaluate the movie merchandise at FAO for the new "Smurfs" movie in 3D!
All new and official!
About the Movie: The Smurfs make their first 3D trip to the big screen in Columbia Pictures'/Sony Pictures Animation's hybrid live-action and animated family comedy, The Smurfs. When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the Smurfs out of their village, through a magical portal, and into our world, they land in the middle of New York's Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down. Directed by Raja Gosnell. The producer is Jordan Kerner. The screenplay is by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss and Jay Scherick & David Ronn from a story by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss, based on the Characters and Works of Peyo.

In fact, since its debut in December 2009, it has been downloaded more than 50 million times!

Toy makers are hoping the excitement here leads to a prosperous 2011!
Because of the economic downturn, toy sales dropped in 2008 and 2009.
In 2010, sales jumped to 22 billion dollars in the U.S., a 2 percent increase from the previous year.
And, with new designs, old favorites and high-tech toys being offered, manufacturers are confident that trend will continue.

The Smurfs - No Smurf Left Behind Collectible Game

I don't know if they would count strictly as movie merchandise, but some new Smurfs gadgets for the UK just came up for pre-order at Play.com. I don't think Play ship items internationally but no doubt somewhere in other countries will have them for sale. These include a money bank, book ends, and microwaveable hotties (I have no idea what these are though) for Smurf, Papa Smurf and Smurfette.

Celebrating Smurf Week at FAO Schwarz
In the week leading up to the release of The Smurfs, FAO Schwarz will participate in Smurf Week in New York City. Dedicated to all things Smurfy, themed events will take place throughout the five boroughs, daily, starting on Monday, July 25, culminating in the movie's premiere on Friday, July 29.
