Does anyone know if Smurfs that are marked with W Germany (as opposed to Hong Kong, etc) are considered more valuable? Thanks for the help!

The West German Smurfs are older than the Hong Kong Smurfs.
As a general rule, older collectibles are worth more than newer collectibles. However, newer Smurfs typically have perfect paint, and are also desirable.
If you have a rare variation, that increases the value. Make sure sure you note the markings on your figurine. If you look at the West Germany Smurfs, you'll see a Smurf marked Bully - this marking may increase the value too.
