Halloween Smurf Attack
An assailant in a Smurf costume who brutally attacked a man dressed as a Rastafarian is being sought by police in the UK.
The blue and white Halloween reveler left his victim needing stitches after beating him up in a nightclub.
Cops were called to the Word Up club's costume party in Greenock, Renfrewshire, which had been offering drinks for £1.
The 21-year-old victim, who was dressed as a Rasta, was taken to an area hospital, still wearing his costume, where he had stitches put in his face wounds.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to track down the person dressed as a Smurf.
Detective Inspector John Dearie, of Strathclyde Police, said, "This is the first time in 30 years in the police force that I have been looking for a Smurf."
"We are treating this very seriously. Whether people are dressed up as a cartoon character is neither here nor there. We will be making inquiries at fancy dress shops but it would be better if the person responsible was to hand themselves in. People can resolve this quite quickly if they identify the person anonymously."
The Smurf attack took place on Halloween 2010, in the early hours of Monday, Nov 1.
Last year on Halloween, Karen Hamilton, 41, dressed as a witch, brawled with a group of girls in safari costumes. The mother-of-two headbutted one on the back of the head. Another woman, dressed as a duck, was also hurt. | Wanted for Questioning
