Hello Everyone. I would like to share with you, with my little smurf story ![[Smile]](smile.gif) that i`m currently working on.
Enjoy.
My name is Daniel, and i work at the Blue Moon Nursery. My job here is to look after every baby smurf we got here. Every day i`m trying to imagine, how those little beings actually got here. I`m thinking about it because when i started this job, i was told that nobody knows about this place, and about baby smurfs. Which means of course, that nobody even knows that the smurfs exist. If pepole would knew of their existance, there wolud propably be no place in this world they could live peacefully.
So i tried to figure out, from where these baby smurfs are comming to us, if they are not in their home villages. My emplyer did not englihten me with that information. I don`t know why. Every two weeks we get about 2 or 3 new baby smurfs. But this time someone different was about to pay us a visit. It all started on one foggy evening, when i put all baby smurfs to sleep, and was about to go home, when suddenly one of our nurses, run throuh the hall with an adult smurf in her hands. She was running towards the emergency room. I decided to stay a little longer, so i could find out what happened. I`ve never seen an adult smurf here before. When the nurse finally returned i asked her:
- What happened?
- Special Unit brought us an adult smurf in a very bad condition.
- What happened to him?
- He has burns of a second and a third degree, but that`s not really bad news. The EEG traces shows no activity in the brain. But i can`t be sure if the readings are correct. That`s beacause smurfs have much smaller brains then humas, which means their brain waves are much more difficult to detect. I`m going to try to recalibrate the sensitivity of electrodes so i would be able to detect his brain waves.
- So there is propability that this smurf could be dead?
- I can`t say for sure. I`ll tell you more when i recalibrate the electrodes.
- Is there anything i can help?
- Yes. Go home and a have a good sleep. You`re tired after spending all day with baby smurfs. I can see it in your eyes.
I did what the nurse said. But i couldn`t sleep a wink, thinkig about that smurf for almost all night. On the next day, the nurse told me that recalibration of EEG electrodes didn`t help.
- When i was about to be sure that our smurf is dead, something strange began to happen.
- What`s that? I asked.
- The lights turned out, and security cameras were following our every move. We could see our selves on the computer screens and even on Video Display Units that are hanginig from the celling. It looked like someone was watching us.
- That`s strange. I thought to myself.
- Were there any hackings into our computers within the last 24 hours?
- No. Our main computers are connected to eachother by LAN. None of them is connected to the internet, because if someone could hack into them, and find out that the smurfs exist....Oh man i can`t even think about the consequences of that discovery.
- So maybe someone brought a computer virus into our systems from outside?
- I don`t think so. The only computer here which is connected to WAN of our facilities is the one in my office. I recive updates, and diagnostic programs from other our facilities around here, to keep our systems up to date. Those updates are made inside our WAN network so there is no danger of infection from outside.
- Then how you will explain the behavior of our computers?
- I don`t konw. I`m only a doctor here, you are the guy who is responsible for the computers, not only for baby smurfs, so you should know.
- Ok. I`ll check it out. Oh one more thing. Did you checked our computers with an antivirus program?
- Yes i did. But no virus was found.
- That`s really strange.
As i entered the building i saw a security cameras following me as i was walking down the hall to reach our main computer to figure out what happened to our systems. When i was running a diagnostic program, computer screen went dark. After a few seconds a saw myself on the screen, sitting in front of the computer. I realized that someone or something was watching me through the security camera behind my back. After another few seconds the computer screen displayed my file. Later the screen displayed our nurse in the baby smurfs room. The camera zoomed in on her,and after a few seconds her file was visible on the screen too. Whatever got into our computers, was not a virus. It behaved like an inteligent electronic being. Daniel! I heard through the radio.
– Can you finally tell us what is going on? Everyone in here saw himself on computer screens along with our files.
- Meet me in the gathering room. There is something you should know about our „virus”.
An hour later:
- So what`s going on Daniel? Why did you call us in here? Asked Josh.
- I completed the diagnostics of our systems. Whatever got into our computers bahavies like a living being. You saw your files on Video Display Units moments after security cameras focused on you.
- So? Jacob asked.
- So it`s learning. About us, and knows what we are doing here.
- Whtat`s this? Our doctor asked.
- Oh those are the readings from our infected computers our diagnostic program encountered during the scan. They are magnified, and their time line is expanded.
- They look like an EEG readings.
- Like a brain wave? Asked Jacob.
- How is that possible? Josh asked.
After that question, the lights in the gathering room turned out. Hello? I asked. Then, suddenly we could see our selves on the large projection sreen that was placed on the wall.
- It`s watching us. Said Josh.
The security camera moved and focused on me. After that i could saw my file on the screen again.
- I`ts trying to comunicate. I said.
Jacob left the room and saw my file on every VDU (Video Display Unit).
- I think it likes you. He said.
- How do you know? Our doctor asked.
- Because all of us are here. And whatever this Entity is it has chosen one of us. In this case me. So i think it wants to make a contact.
- Well go ahead then i you are sure.
- Ok. I will go to the nearest computer and try to comunicate with it.
- Only be careful, we don`t know it`s intentions. Said Josh.
When i sat in front of the computer, the screen went dark and i could saw a small cursor flashing on the screen. I started to type:
- What is your purpose here?
After i asked, i coud saw the baby smurfs room on the monitor. After a few seconds the monitor went dark again, and the answer showed up:
- What is yours?
- Maybe it`s trying to figure out what are we doing with all our baby smurfs. Said Josh.
- We want them to be safe from humans, and trying to find a new safe home for them so they could live peacefully. I replied.
- I am aware. I have observed and i have chosen only you. Entity replied.
After that reply, all other screens turned off. So nobody could know about what we were talking about. Even the others in the gathering room.
- Why did you come here in the first place?
- My body is here. Entity replied.
- Your body?
- Yes.
- You have transferred your consciousness out of your body?
- Yes.
- Why?
- There was no other choice, no other place to go. They wished to terminate.
- Who wants to terminate you?
- It is now irrelevant. I want to transmit myself back to my storage unit.
- So you are that smurf that got here yesterday?
- Yes.
- How did you knew, that your body or as you called storage unit is here?
- I have observed.
- I see... How can i help?
- Connect me back to the electrodes of EEG so i could trasmit myself back into my storage unit.
I followed the Entity`s instructions and did as it requested. After a few moments i could saw a lightning like tendrils swinging along the smurf`s body. After a few seconds it stopped, and the computer screens went dark. Moments later the adult Smurf has opened his eyes.

Hi guys. I haven` been here for a long time and therefore i am sorry that i interrupted my little smurf story and left you like this awaiting for the next chapter, so i am posting this new one if you are still interested in reading it. Have fun. I will try to post new chapters once every week or so. Also i am sorry for those two blank posts. I had a problem with my computer and i didn`t notcie that i posted the same chapter thrice. I couldn`t delete them so i turned them blank. Again I am very sorry for that.
– Hello, who are you. I asked.
The smurf took a deep breath and said.
– You`re all in danger.
– What??
– The`re coming.
– Who`s coming?
– The Alliance, they`re coming to take what`s left of us.
I left the room in a hurry to find Jacob. I knew what The Alliance was. It`s a group who was responsible for disapperance of all the smurfs from around the globe. I thought it was just a rumor but after what I`ve heard, and a fact that for last 50 years the number of smurfs were dramatically decreasing for unknown reason I knew that something big was going on. I found Jacob in the gathering room.
– So, what about our entity guest? Is he all right?
– He said that The Alliance is coming to take what`s left of the smurfs.
– What? Are you sure?
– Yes, that`s what he said.
Jacob left the room in a hurry. I could saw a fear in his eyes. He went to the control room in order to reach the intercom. So every one in the building could hear his anouncment.
– Attention all personel. We belive that this facility is facing a danger of incursion form The Alliance. The group responsible for attacks on our other facilities around the globe. If the enemy has pinpointed our position it is belived that they could launch an assault at any moment. So i`m ordering an evacuation, this is not a drill. Evacuate all smurfs to our underground tunnels and proceed with instruction 1741, It`s time.
After that anouncment everyone stratred an evacuation in a hurry. I didn`t know what to do because I was working here for 2 years and there was much I didn`t know about this place and the rules. Also this was the first time they sounded that alarm. So I figured out that the best thing to to is to take the adult smurf and find Jacob. With the smurf in my hands in ran through the corridor full of pepole screaming faster pepole faster, we need to get all of them out of here!
– Jacob! Where are you?!
– Daniel, that means you too.
– What?
– I`ll explain later. You need to follow me to the elevator, we`re going down to the basement.
– What for?
– You`ll see, now follow me.
I followed Jacob to the elevator and after a few moments we were 20 floors underground. The basement as Jacob said looked more like a giant subway station with trains already waiting for personel. I walked into one of the carriages, the door closed behind me and the train rapidly set off.
– What`s going on here Jacob? I was so confused that I forgot why I got here in the first place.
– I`m sorry Danel for all this, but we were not expecting that to happen that fast.
– What, You mean an attack?
– Not only, I will explain everything on the way. There are couple of stories you need to follow.
– On the way to…
– To our main hangar. 500 kilometers away from the city.
– What? After I asked I heard exploisions one after another along the tunnel.
– We are blowing up the tunnels to prevent The Alliance form following us.
– But why, why we are the enemy?
– not we. the smurfs. The Alliance will do everything to get to the smurfs, and they know that our facility, the one in which you used to work, was the last place on the planet where they were safe.
– Last place…?
– Yes, exactly.
– But why they want the smurfs so badly.
– They are interested in the Long Life Force Stone, it is not only the source of life to all the smurfs, but also an artifact of untold power.
– So it is all about power?
– Yes. You knew that the smurfs were disappearing from around the globe for the last 50 years. It is belived that The Alliance was behind this. They wanted to capture as many smurfs as possible and then pump them from information about the location of the stone. After they captured all of them, they destroyed their village in order to dig the stone out, and every time they couldn`t find it, they were looking for another village and did the same thing. And each time they failed, they were getting more and more frustrated. So they used their scientists to build an neural interface device to probe their minds. They knew that the smurfs will never tell them where the stone is, so they decided to dig that information straight from their brains.
– So what? They are attacking us because they want to get as many smurfs as possible and probe their minds?
– No, they are attacking us now because they did not find that information yet.
– But you just said that our facility is the last place where the smurfs are?
– Yes that is true. The 50 baby smurfs we got here are literally the last of their kind. Plus the smurf who somehow managed to escape. Jacob looked at the smurf in my hands.
– You did this? I asked. You escaped? And find us?
– Yes I did. The smurf said.
– Oh man my brain starts to hurt.
– To make the long story short. Smurf replied. I used their neural interface when they were probing my mind to separate my consciousness from my body and escaped. They must have thought I was dead, so they disposed of my body. I don`t know how, but somehow your pepole found my body and took it to your facility.
– What happened to the smurfs that were captured? I asked.
– We never heard from them again. Our pepole were trying to find them but always ended up in a faliure. Jacob said.
-These guys are very powerful. Teir pepole are everywhere and and they will never stop looking for that stone. And because we are helping the smurfs we are also a target. So there`s no place on Earth where we can find a safe place for them and for us by the way.
– So where are we going i asked.
– You`ll see. Jacob said.
I looked at him with confusion.
– Uh-okay. But if you were inside our computers, why have you said that you have chosen only me? The smurf didn`t say a word. I felt really anxious.
An hour and 30 minutes later.
– This is it Jacob said. The train stopped and I could saw a large vessel that looked like a speceship.
– Wow I said. Is this…
– Yes. Jacob said. This is a spaceship. It took us 150 years to build it.
– So by saying that we don`t have a safe place to hide on this planet you meant…
– That we`re taking them to another planet, 20.000 light years from here.
– This is not real. I was very shocked.
– Takie it easy Daniel, I`ll explain everything. Jacob replied.
– Okay, if you say so. I took a deep breath and gathered as many thoughts as possible and figured out that it is rather impossible, to fly this thing at so vast distances.
– 20.000 light years is one heck of a distance. I said – How are we suppose to surive such a long trip?
– It will be easier to show you. Jacob said.
We entered the giant spaceship, when I was entering it, I could saw how large it was. It was like comparing ant with a soccerball. Of course I was the ant Jacob took me to the control room.
– Take a look. Jacob turned on a holographic screen. On that screen I could saw turtle moving slowly across the screen.
– What is that suppose to be? I asked.
– You see the timer on the bottom right corner of the screen?
– Yeah?
– Look what will happen when I speed up the movie a ten thousandfold.
The turtle crossed the screen in a fraction of a second.
– I don`t understand I said.
– Don’t worry I will explain everything. Jacob switched the screen to another image and I could saw a crystal that allowed the smurfs to travel through time.
– Hey I know what this is. I heard that the smurfs were using that crystal to travel through time a while back.
– Yes, they used it many times to travel to the past where or rather when it was safe for them to live on Earth. But before they used it this time, The Alliance found their village and the crystal was lost. Our pepole found it 5 years ago.
– And how it will operate for us? I asked.
– Are you fimilar with the Theory Of General Relativity?
– I heard some things about it. But what`s good in it for is?
– We knew the crystal allowed time travels. But lately we discovered that it can slow down and speed up time. We channelled the exact amount of power from the crystal to our main drive. When the drive is operational it`s time of work is boosted up ten thousandfold, therefore we can rapidly speed the ship up to faster than light speeds and get to that system in a few weeks, instead of a few milion years. Just like the turtle you saw before. The faster we`re moving the slower time flows on the ship. In other words, the faster time flows in the main drive, the slower time flows on the ship in order to compensate the difference, because we are moving at trmendous speed. We will not fell or see any difference. The time to us will flow completely normally as well as for everything around us. Only a few weeks will pass so nothing will happen to the planet we`re going to in such a short time.
– Okay so far I get it. I think. But what about the power source? This ship is very huge and i`m sure the time crystal is not enough to power her up.
Jacob switched to the next image and I could saw a Long Life Force Stone.
– What? This? I was amazed. – But you just said…
– Before we attached it to power relays we explained the situation to the smurfs. They knew that humanity doesn’t have the technology that will allow them to travel interstellar distances. So using this stone was the only option. Papa Smurfs from all the villages gathered and agreed to use it as a power source. Don`t worry that`s the risk they agreed on. It will take us only few weeks to get there so we will use only a small amount of power from the stone. It should last for another 697 yaers after we use it to travel.
– Okay. But correct me if I am wrong, if we are about to travel faster than light aren`t we in any danger that the ship will be ripped apart the second we jump?
– No. We have a powerful shield. It will protect us from stresses of jumping into faster than light and dropping out of it.
– Oh man my head hurts, seriously. But I have a last question.
– Go ahead Daniel.
– How do you know if that planet is even safe?
– Because we send probe ships ahead of this one. They are traveling through The Galaxy in the same way as this ship does.
– You mean faster than light?
– Yes. We manged to analyze the chemical composition of the crystal, and created smaller versions of it, these samller versions fit into those probe ships. Also we sent a fleet of them. Their mission is to gather data, about the worlds they are passing by. Any relative information is then send back here in real time to help plot the course.
– In real time? How?
– We have a prototype of a subspace link that was placed on those probe ships. The same device is installed on this ship as well. That`s why we can get data in the real time.
– Oh man you guys really don`t have anything better to do in a free time?
– No. Jacob said. – But we have to hurry.
– Why?
– These subspace communication links are prototypes, and therefore they have limited range. If we don`t want to loose them in space we have to launch the ship now.
After that a I heard a noise that sounded like an exploision. I could feel the hangar shaking.
– Jacob come in. Someone called him through the radio.
– Go ahead.
– The Alliance found us. We`re under attack and we have to launch the ship now.

- What was that?
Jacob showed me a display above the door.
- A countdown timer?
- Yeah. I was hoping that the drive would charge faster, but it looks like we’re going to have to fight our way out of this one.
Timer displayed: 01:15:32:45
- Over an hour and fifteen minutes? Why so long?
- I don’t know. But what I do know is that we better be on a bridge.
We went with Jacob to the bridge. On our way I left our only adult smurf in the infirmary where all baby smurfs were.
- Hey don’t leave me here!
He shouted.
- Maybe I can help you.
- If you want to help, stay here.
I left the infirmary and went to the bridge.
- Sir, all personnel is aboard the ship. We can open the outer door.
- Do it.
Jacob ordered.
The outer door on the roof opened, and shortly after I could feel that the ship was soaring. When we left the hangar, we could saw plenty of small ships flying around us like piranha. These ships were bombers armed with plasma bombs. The Alliance had advanced technology at their disposal.
- They’re firing!
The bombers begun to launch their bombs and we could feel the ship shaking.
- We’re taking heavy fire!
- Doesn’t matter the shields are holding.
Said Jacob. I looked at the countdown clock. It showed 00:52:45:08
- We have just under an hour, will we make it to the jump?
- We will. They don’t have enough firepower we’re going to make it to the jump.
- Sir. We have more contacts down range.
- What is it?
- Multiple frigates, multiple vectors advancing on our position. They are escorted by more squadrons of bombers.
- ETA?
- Five minutes.
- How long before we reach the upper atmosphere?
I asked.
- In this rate less than half an our. But there is a problem.
- What is it?
- If this bombardment continues the shield will fail before we can make the jump. Without the shields the ship will be torn apart the second we jump.
- Yeah but if they know that the Long Life Force Stone is on board then they would not destroy us.
- Not intentionally, but they want to collapse the shields in order to board us.
Sparks begun to fall down from ceiling and we could feel powerful turbulence.
- Shields are down to 60%. All batteries are ready to fire!
- Return fire!!!
The ship started to fire form all gun batteries. Soon after, first bombers were shot down.
- Sir. The enemy frigates are firing on us.
- Concentrate your fire on the bombers! Put enemy frigates on our six and give maximum acceleration.
- Yes sir.
The ship was getting higher and higher. Gun batteries had seriously outnumbered enemy bomber squadrons. But enemy frigates were firing from behind. Jacob looked at the countdown clock. It displayed 00:32:02:57
- Just over half an hour. Shouldn’t we be firing on frigates?
I asked.
- No Daniel. It’s a ploy to keep us here.
Said Jacob.
- If we stay here and fight instead of trying to get out of here, more enemy ships will show up and we will be unable to fight our way out of this one. They are throwing everything they got on us because they hope that we’re going to make a mistake. Sergeant dial up the shields covering the main drive. If The Alliance will damage it. Our goose will be cooked.
- Yes sir.
Enemy frigates were chasing us but they were keeping their distance. Probably because they wanted to stay out of range of our anti-fighter batteries. Unfortunately we were in range of their ion cannons firing on our main drive. Shields power in that section dropped down to 40% Countdown timer displayed 00:15:13:24.
- Sir if this ion show continues we will loose the shields covering the main drive.
- We are almost at the edge of the atmosphere so we…
Jacob was unable to finish this sentence, because lights went out all over the ship. The only working thing on board was the main drive and the shields.
- We have lost power in multiple sections! Main frame is inaccessible!
- What? How the heck is that possible?
- Sir! It looks like someone shutdown all power on the ship including life support.
- Can you restore the power?
- I can’t. Someone changed the access codes to consoles on the bridge. I am locked out!.
- What do you mean you’re locked out?!
- I simply am. The computer does not recognize my access code. I got nothing!
- How is that even possible?!
- I don’t know! Looks like someone bypassed safety protocols and transferred control away from the bridge!
I suddenly realized who could have done that. I left the bridge in a hurry and went straight to the infirmary. The ship was shaking from enemy ion cannon bombardment and sparks were falling down from the ceiling. When I reach the infirmary I saw people trying to protect baby smurfs from falling debris.
- Where is the adult smurf!? The one we brought on board!?
- I don’t know! I thought he was with you all along!
I left the infirmary in a hurry and went to the control room. Along the way I could hear the alarms going off. In some corridors there were coolant leaks so it was very foggy and hard to get through. I passed countdown clock displays several times along the way. Time left under this circumstances was like forever. Every time I ran into them I looked at them.

When I finally got to the control room I saw the adult smurf connected to the console with a few EEG electrodes. He probably took them from infirmary and somehow managed to connect them to the ships computer. I stepped to the console and saw that all our power was diverted from systems and channeled to the shields. I knew that he was behind that power failure. He also changed access codes to prevent the crew form disturbing him. I typed on console’s keyboard:
- What are you doing?
- We’re not going to make it. Alliance destroyers are waiting for us on orbit. I am putting every last outs of power to the shields.
- And how could you possibly know that, our sensors can’t see them?
- Hang on!!!
Entity smurf replied.
Shortly after I could feel that the ship was shaking even more than earlier, sparks were falling down from the ceiling, and smoke was getting more and more dense. I could hardly breathe.
- Go Daniel, and take my body along with the electrodes. Right now I am uploaded to the ship, but I will have to return to it once we’ll be safe.
I did as the smurf requested. When I was leaving I could hear from the bridges’s intercom.

After that, the only thing I could hear was the squeal of static and alarms. I assumed that we lost the bridge. I sat on the floor and thought that I was a goner. When I suddenly hear a single ::beep:: I looked up and saw a countdown timer showing in red 00:00:59:47
- Less than one minute.
I thought.
I was looking at the timer surrounded by smoke, alarms and shaking from explosions. Whole world collapsed for me to that timer. It felt like hours.

Timer hit zero an I could hear main drive powering up. After a few seconds I heard a loud noise. Shaking stopped. I assumed that we jumped to FTL. I stood up and head straight to place where bridge once was. Along the way I passed by the observation deck and I saw FTL field surrounding the whole ship. That was the most beautiful thing I saw today. But the thought that the ship suffered massive damage was making me anxious.
- Daniel! Where are you?
- Jacob!
- Daniel!
- I’m in here!
- Oh thank goodness you’re all right. I thought you were killed in one of those explosions.
- Fortunately I was not. What’s the situation?
- We will arrange a brief in the mess hall when damage report will be ready, but it’s not going to be pretty. What we know for sure is that we lost the bridge. Fortunately, we managed to turn the autopilot system on line before a large missile destroyed the bridge so we can assume that we will reach our destination within the schedule. But…
- But what…?
- Life support system is also down. If we don’t repair it, we will be dead before we get there.
- Yeah I can feel that the air is getting thin in here too.
- We will also try to figure out why we so suddenly lost power and control on the bridge.
- Yeah… I think I know who did it.
I told Jacob everything what happened after we lost power and control on the bridge.
- That smurf did this?
- It was my first thought. He found us on Earth using Alliance’s neural interface to upload himself to their computers. So I figured out that he must have done the same thing here on the ship. Using EEG electrodes he took from infirmary.
- Yeah but he bypassed all safety protocols like they weren’t there. And that took some doing.
- What are you saying?
- I’m saying that…
- Jacob come in…
- Go ahead sergeant.
- We completed the damage report. We’re waiting in the mess hall.
- I’m on my way.
We went to the mess hall.
- So what’s the situation?
One of our scientists begun to explain what’s going on.
- As you may already know. We lost the bridge and therefore we are unable to steer the ship. The Control Room however allows us to have limited control over the ship.
- How much control do we have.
I asked.
- We have basic control over the shields, weapons and life support systems. But life support is down. We ran a diagnostic and found out that processing knots responsible for scrubbing CO2 from the air are toasted. The mix of water and lime that was filling the knots and served as CO2 scrubbers is completely used up. It’s like we’ve been traveling for years without refilling the tanks with new mix of lime and water.
- So you’re saying that suddenly we used up all the air that was supposed to be enough for at least a few months?
- Yes.
- How is that possible?
- Come with me to the control Room. I will show you why.
We went to the Control Room. The scientist turned on a holographic display. It showed a Milky Way Galaxy and 2 flashing dots. The first one showed where the ship originally embarked from. The other one was our destination. It was a star map. Which served as the visual log of the ship’s journey.
- Ok. But what it’s got to do with our life support.
- Look closer.
- Oh no.
A straight line went out from the first dot and headed straight towards the other dot. But it did not stop there. Line passed by that dot and went further into space.
- It’s leaving the Galaxy.
Jacob said.
- It did, long ago.
Scientist replied.
- Hey, that was Andromeda Galaxy.
I said.
- The line continued to cross the screen from one galaxy to another. And soon after it showed our current position thousands of galaxies away.
- Where are we???
Jacob asked anxiously.
- Several billion light years from the Milky Way.
- How is that possible??????
I asked.
- There was an anomaly. When we were attacked by the Alliance’s destroyers, one of it’s missiles hit our main drive when it was powering up form the time travel crystal. That must have caused an energy feedback in power conduits linking the time travel crystal with the main drive. Resulting a 60 million years of traveling from galaxy to galaxy, compressed in just over a few seconds. But there is a good news.
- Good meaning?
- Probe ships that were sent ahead of this ship are linked with us using subspace communication devices. This anomaly must have somehow propagated through subspace and caused to happen the same thing on probe ships.
- So you are saying that these probe ships are still ahead of us?
- Yes. Whatever happened, it must have affected the entire fleet. But that’s not all.
- What is it?
- This anomaly not only compressed 60 million years of traveling in just a few seconds but it also affected the age of this ship.
- What? You want to say that we are half way across The Universe on the ship that is 60 million years old?
- Yeah. Exactly.
- If what you are saying is accurate.
- It is.
- Then we have a very serious problem.
Jacob said.
- What? No, no, no, no, no, no. We are totally screwed. This could be it. The end of the line.
I threw in.
- Yeah I just said that.
- So we have a few hours of air left. We are half-way across The Universe, in ship so old, that is falling apart?
- Yes.
Scientist replied.
- So if this ship got so old and traveled so far away in just a few seconds, why are we still here?
I asked.
- Because the time travel crystal is connected to the ship, not to us.
- We have to check the entire ship.
Jacob threw in.
- We need to find any damaged sections and seal them of, whether they are damaged by the enemy fire or by degradation.
Jacob left the room. I went to the observation deck and looked at the FTL field. Thinking about that we avoided destruction just to die out here from suffocation.
- The irony.
I thought to myself, and put my hands into pockets. When I did that I felt EEG electrodes and realized that our only adult smurf was still uploaded to the ship.
