The Monaghan town of Castleblayney in Ireland now holds the Guinness Book of Records title for the most Smurfs in the one place. More than 1,000 people celebrated the Smurfs 50th anniversary by turning up at the town's Muckno Mania Festival to break the record.
The official adjudicator from Guinness Book of Records was in attendance and recorded the record-breaking number of people in full Smurf regalia as 1,253, which broke the previous Croatian record of 533 from earlier in 2008.
Participants wore white pants, blue shirts (either a t-shirt or long sleeved), white Smurf hats and all visible skin was painted blue. There also appears to be a few Papa Smurfs in the crowd!
The idea was spurred from organizers watching the 1,488-strong Gallagher Clan enter the Guinness Book of World Records for the biggest number of people with the same last name attending a clan gathering in Letterkenny in September.
Monaghan breaks 'Smurf' world record
Jul 21, 2008. Castleblayney, a town in County Monaghan, Ireland has entered the Guinness Book of Records for the most Smurfs in the one place.
This year is the 50th anniversary of the popular cartoon characters, and to mark the occasion more than 1,000 people turned out at the town's Muckno Mania Festival to break the record.
The official number in costume at the event was 1,253, which smashed the previous record of 533 at a gathering in Croatia earlier this year.

Can't you just imagine all of these Smurfs leaving to go home... you'd see Smurfs EVERYWHERE - walking, driving, at the grocery store, getting a bite to eat, etc. That would be fun! Thanks for sharing! ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

I tried to post the whole page here, but whenever I clicked it to confirm it I received an error notification, telling the page had been changed, moved, deleted, so on... ![[Roll Eyes]](rolleyes.gif)
