I know there is! It's an episode in which Handy smurf falls in love with a mermaid. Papa smurfs says at the end 'better to have loved once and lost, than never have loved at all'... I've allways rememberred that sentence ;-)

Accoriding to the episode guide on this site (http://bluebuddies.com/help/smurfs_cartoon_episode_guide.htm), the episode is called in English 'Handy's Sweetheart' (season 3, ep22).
