Hello,
I bought some smurfs at a yard sale and I can't find ANY info on them. They're fuzzy smurfs. Like, there's hair all over them. Please help.

OH and they're not plush. They're plastic underneath the fuzz and the one above is about 3-4 inches tall.

I don't know, but it doesn't look like that fuzz is supposed to be there. I'm thinking whoever had these before you had them stored in some place damp like a cellar or something. That fuzz to me looks like mold growth. If that's what it is you might want to scrub these figures down to wash off the fuzz. It doesn't look right.

Hi yazbelle,

Welcome to Bluebuddies!

You have found yourself some Smurfs from "The World of Smurfs" series. They came out in 1988 by a company called Bikin.

 -
Flocked "Fuzzy" Smurfs

These Smurfs are "flocked" (a fancy way of saying there is texture applied to a hard surface). You can see and feel that the Smurfs are a hard plastic with a thin velvet-like texture on the outside. The Smurfs are described on the package as "Fully Jointed Flocked Vinyl Smurfs".

 -
The World of Smurfs - Circus Playset

The World of Smurfs series consisted of 6 different sets.

1) The Workers
2) The Choir
3) The Musicians
4) Seaside
5) Cleaning Up
6) Circus

Each playset had a cute theme and included four Smurfs. For example, the "Seaside" playset had the Smurfs dressed in their swimsuits and came with a beach raft and a flotation ring around Baby Smurf.

 -
Variety of Flocked Smurf Figures

In addition to the six "The World of Smurfs" playsets, there were also packages of a single Smurf, two Smurfs and even three Smurfs. They included a combination of a regular Smurf, Papa Smurf, Brainy, Smurfette and/or Baby Smurf.

I hope this helps out!

OH. THANK YOU!! I should've known they were flocked since I buy paper like that. It seems like my set was two 2 packs. I have Brainy, Papa, Smurfette, baby, and regular. I'm so glad to finally know!!

I should add that mine is a bit dirty which is probably why it "doesn't look right." My kids play with them.

Wow! I was WAY off on THAT assumption, huh? I've never heard of these figurines before, so they're very strange to me.

These flocked smurfs are sooo hard to keep clean! It seems like once any dust or dirt gets on them - it's there to stay! The velvet-like coating has a tendency to flake off too - not very smurfy!

You don't really see these smurfs very often and they are a bit strange looking - but I still think they are cute!

 -
Dirty Flocked Smurfs

The two-packs included:
1) Papa / Brainy
2) Smurf / Smurf
3) Smurfette / Baby

The three-packs included:
1) Smurf / Smurf / Brainy
2) Baby / Smurfette / Papa

 -
Flocked Smurfette & Smurf

The Smurfs in the single, two-pack and three-pack did not come with removable clothes... only the "World of Smurfs" boxed sets had additional snazzy clothes (like the animal print and shiny silver shown above). I think it is really cute that the boy smurfs had their permanent white pants and shoes on underneath the removable clothing!

[Eek!]
