One of the episodes of the Smurfs that I really badly want to see again is The Bad Pace with those muddy aliens called the Grimies. I saw this episode twice, the last time was while I was on vacation with my family in Florida in May of 1985 in the hotel room at Walt Disney World. I've always wanted to see this episode again since then.
I only remember bits and pieces but remember that I loved this episode a lot. I remember this strange looking space ship with holes all over it, almost looked like an asteroid, hovering over the Smurf village in the middle of the night. I think it was shining bright lights as well. I remember the Smurfs waking up and looking out their windows or coming out of their houses to see what it was. I also remember mud started shooting out of it and hitting some of the Smurfs in the face.
I barely remember what the aliens looked like all covered in mud. I think it was a family, a muddy mother and father holding a muddy baby. Am I correct?
Does anyone have any pictures from this episode? I'd love to see pictures of the ship, the Grimies, the Smurfs getting smashed in the face with mud, and any other good things I'm forgetting. I would really love to get my hands on this episode if there is any way. If I had to choose one episode of the Smurfs to watch I would choose that one since that is the one I have wanted to see most for these last twenty plus years. But, pictures would suffice if anyone has any.

What fun! I dusted off my VHS tape and found the episode you're talking about. You have such a good memory of the show considering the last time you saw it was in 1985!
Here are some pictures from "The Bad Place"...

You can see more pictures here .
So many Smurfs ended up covered in mud - what a mess! ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

I`ve never seen this episode before. It sure looks interesting, and makes me wonder, how it feels to be hit by aliens with a mud in the face. Thanks for the pictures Sassette.

Oh my goodness! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! When I posted this thread I was wondering if you had this on tape and would post images. I can't believe you actually have this episode. The images are great, EXACTLY like I remembered them. The Grimies look just like I remembered, and this is going on a memory almost 22 years now.
So it was Greedy that got hit with the mud at the beginning there, wasn't sure who it was. Smurfette looks really pissed in that one picture where she's covered with mud. I remember the Grimies being very nice and friendly, but VERY dirty. What a mess is right, all those Smurfs got really messy after that visit from the Grimies. Nice creatures but very messy. I also think those characters are rather cute as well, what an awesome and original idea for these creatures. This is what I love about the Smurfs, they always had the most interesting creatures with such bizarre and original ideas.
I can't believe I was right in remembering Mrs. Grimie holding a baby. I do not, however, remember the little boy and girl Grimies. I do remember the Grimies "writing" mud with their fingers. Maybe it was just one scene? I remember one of the Grimies striking their finger across something (across one of the Smurfs maybe?) and creating a mud line. When I was watching this episode in the hotel room before we were getting ready to leave for a day at Disney I was sitting next to my dad and after the episode I stoke my finger across his tummy and he said, "What, are you a Grimie?" I never forgot that. LOL.
Thanks again for making the pictures and wow, that is really good quality for an old VHS tape. Now that I've seen some images my next mission is actually getting to watch the whole episode in full. I'm currently on queue to download this episode on eMule, but it's taking forever. It will only download little bits at a time before putting me on queue again for a few more days. Maybe one of these days it will finish and I'll get to watch it again. Until then it's driving me crazy, at least I got a nice little fix with these images. Awesome stuff.

You know what? I thought of asking that here but then refrained.
Since the first or second time I saw this episode I always wondered the same thing. I wonder what they would look like not covered with mud.

I just saw this one on Boomerang, and really liked it.
Vanity's attitude towards the Grimies made me laugh a lot.

I meant to post this a while ago, but about two months ago now the download FINALLY finished and now I have the episode and got to watch the whole thing in full. Yes, it does live up to my memory. Of course I forgot a lot, but I remembered a lot as well. After finally seeing it 22 years later I still say it's one of my favorite episodes, up there along with The Masked Pie Smurfer and a few others.
About two weeks ago someone has since posted it YouTube. I was about to post the link but saw that Eep2 has already done so. Here's the link again anyway.

If anyone here has not yet seen this episode please watch it, I think it's really good.

I stumbled upon your link Shane J. Thanks for providing this little humorous morsel of entertainment.
Perhaps it is the base ridiculousness of being coated in mud all the time, but the Grimies left me tickled.

I also remember that, Shane. Despite being a little tiresome (and muddy!), the Grimes are sympathetic. I've always thought they would be excellent neighbors to a sculptor... (LAUGH) ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)
