My interpretation of "Hefty's Heart" is that, even though Tapper sees Hefty as good-hearted and willing to do things for his fellow Smurfs, he still likes to heap abuse on his fellow Smurf Duncan and refuses to let him or Tuffy help him in any way, preferring to be Mr. I Can Do It All By Myself Smurf. So the Yellow Hate Disease in that context turns him from Jerk With A Heart Of Gold to total jerk.

I guess in that one picture above the one with hefty flexing his muscle, Empath isn't a big fan of Hefty.

Actually, the only thing Empath doesn't like about Hefty in the Empath story universe is that Hefty throws his weight around, or at least did. Otherwise, Empath admires Hefty and even wants to be like him.

Since I already have an aggressive Empath defending Brainy, here's a diplomatic Empath doing the same.
And here's a smart aleck Empath defending Brainy.
This comes from playing so much Dragon Age II.

You mostly see Smurfs in swim briefs in the comic books, while in the cartoon show they wear shorts.
