When I was little I loved the Smurfs so much that I wanted to be one. Sometime in the summer of 1983 when I was five I started telling my family that I'm a Smurf. I would get mad whenever I would hear my mom use my name and I would say, "I'm not Shane I'm a Smurf!"
It wasn't until the following summer that I finally came out and said I wasn't a Smurf anymore. My family still brings that up for laughs whenever we're all together. Crazy stuff.

I don`t think it`s a crazy stuff, we all love smurfs in our own ways. I can tell you Shane that i was once dreaming about meeting with The Smurfs, dreaming so much that i was slowly starting to assert my self that it will happen someday. Now that looks more like a crazy stuff to me. But practically i think now, that it was beautiful however.

It's only now that I can do a close-enough version of Don Messick's Papa Smurf voice, that I tend to use that voice more often.

I celebrate my love of the Smurfs by drawing them!
I think they're absolutely fun to draw! ![[Cool]](cool.gif)

I still get called a Smurf by people at the Forum House whenever I wear my thin woolen floppy hats. Of course, when some people say, "A Smurf!", I say to them, "Gesundheit!"

I certainly can remember being quite obessed with Smurfs when I was younger and never missed a single Smurf episode or holiday specials (except one, titled "Happily Ever After" in which Smurfs celebrates the day when their friend Laconia the Wood Elf got married...and I SO wanted to see it, but it was on a different channel at that time and I never did get to see it. Nor did I get to see the 9th and final season of the Smurfs, either. But I'm rambling...sorry. ^^; )
However, I didn't dress myself up as Smurf or did anything "smurfy". I just remember how obessesed I was with the Smurfs, lol. Now that I'm older I'm not as obessed as I used to... but I still have a special fondness for the little blue people.
