Hello fellow Smurf fans. My name is Shane Jensen and I'm from Long Island, New York, USA. I'm 27 years old and I've been a fan of the Smurfs since they first premiered. I used to have quite a few Smurf tapes but now only have about two or three left from the 80s. I have since taped some more from Cartoon Network in 2002. I still love the Smurfs and after many year hiatus since the Smurfs went off the air I have been getting back into them again these last few years. It's a shame that they have been forgotten by most of America since 1990.
Apparently the Smurfs are still popular in Europe. When I was visiting Paris, France in 1990 I remember seeing Smurf postcards at a shop. We're hard pressed to see anything with Smurfs in stores here in America unless we're at a thrift store or something. It's a shame, I wish they were still popular like they were in the 80s.
I have a few stories that I'll eventually share in other threads. It's so nice to see a site and forum dedicated to the Smurfs that isn't a spoof site. Keep this great site going and keep up the good work.

Thank you.
Oh, and I made an error in my message above, I meant to write 1999, not 1990. I was in Paris in 1999 and I saw Smurf postcards.
No, I never knew there was a Smurf theme park. That's so cool, I never heard of such a thing. I wonder why the Smurfs are still popular in Europe but no longer here in the states? It's a shame.

Hi Shane!
I am new here too. It is nice to meet you. I have also wondered why The Smurfs lost their popularity here in the States? It seems all the other popular shows from the 80's are making a comeback, so why not The Smurfs?

Good question, Masked.
Frankly, I could care less about seeing anymore PVCs being developed than I would cartoon shows and/or comic books featuring them.

Welcome to all newbies
This is why I love this forum so much is because there are many of us that loved the Smurfs growing up, and still do...hey, I will drag my friends to come with me to see the trilogy, some I won't even have to force they will come just because they loved the little blue guys just as much!
I'm assuming the studios will start a new cartoon series either just before, or just after the trilagy (if they haven't started on one in the background right now that is). Some of the cartoons they are bringing back and giving a new appearance on look very cool, so it would be interesting if they give the smurfs a new appearance in some way as well (either more personality in their character, or slightly different wardrobe in order to tell them appart from the rest).
Well, we can always know when the movies come out.
Take Care, Raven Child.
