If a smurf was choked or choking what color would they turn? And why do you believe this?

This is asked a lot on different websites.
I think they'd turn either a darker blue or purple.
Now, riddle me this:
Who was the first person to look at a cow and say to him/herself "I think I'll squeeze those dangly pink things and drink whatever comes out of them."?

I think they might turn red, also.
