Smurfs And The Magic Flute, from 1976!!! The only downsides of this movie are that there is no Smurfette, and how they kind of cheaply added the synthesized voices on the smurfs make it sound like 5 are talking instead of 1 per smurf which is kind of awkward.
Otherwise, a great, and rare Smurfs film to have from the pre-TV show era!!!

Smurfette wasn't in the original comic book version of the story, either, given that it was first published in 1958 and Smurfette wouldn't come until the Smurfs were well established in their own series of comic books. Also the movie was developed by Belvision Studios and was dubbed into English in 1983 using a different voice cast.

The first time I saw it, I was pretty freaked out with the fact that they all sounded different to in the Hanna- Barbara cartoon, but I then later realised it was made by Peyo, so had a European voice cast. I was also shocked that Smurfette didn't appear in it, but obviously, like you say VicGeorge, it was made before the appearance of Smurfette. The other thing I found weird about it was that Johan and Peewit play a much bigger part in it than the Smurfs, but of course now I know that Peyo prefered his creation of 'Johan and Pirloit' to the Smurfs, and the Smurfs were originally characters from Johan and Peewit comics. Of course, back then when I first saw it, I'd only been into the Smurfs for about a month, so I didn't know much about them. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

How could I forget about Monty Python? Life of Brian is my favourite :-) Also good for a laugh are the 'Goodies' which were a BBC programme, but I'm not sure if it was ever broadcast abroad. 'Hecky thump' battles were the best (Men in oversized Nothern flat caps beating each other up with oversized black puddings). Only in the UK ;-)

Animator: I'm talking about the animated The Hobbit that I believe was made in the 70's. There's a Hobbit movie in the works?
Brainy Smurf Archives: Yep, those were the days! That's the era I grew up in. Oh, yes... I like the 2011 Smurf movie, mostly. It helped me get out of a slight depression. lol I just would've liked to have seen it set in the original middle ages period. It wasn't really my favorite, but it does hold a special place in my heart, nevertheless. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Sorry VicGeorge, I don't mean to sound rude.
But when Peyo created the smurfs (and this is before they were famous as such), he wrote at least 10 comics before he added Smurfette, but unlike the series, she was not evil. Although, she was taken out (when the comics were famous)because people assumed that this meant (because she wasn't in the first 10) the rest of the smurfs were "A bunch of homosexuals". Not exactly a word to use on a site like this, were there are 8 year olds, but...
What are you're fav movies everysmurf?

I love Freaky Friday! I don't know why but I just do! And Uncle Gargy, I agree. I should have put Monty Python in my list too! Although I'm too young to see Life of Brian, I've seen things like 'And Now for Something Completely Different' and 'The Ministry of Silly Walks'. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)
