The problem is I'm already a 20 year old when the movie released in Thailand on October 3 and that makes me feel old. New Zealand release date is just week away from my birthday though.

I saw The Smurfs 2 in 3D! In front of it, I saw trailers for "Free Birds", the One Direction 3D concert, "The Lego Movie", "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" and Disney's "Frozen" before this movie started. Brendan Gleeson was known as "Mad-Eye" Moody in Harry Potter, the Abbot in "The Secret of Kells", and the Pirate with a Gout in "The Pirates! Band of Misfits". I thought it was kinda cool, especially with the Naughties who... I think I shouldn't say the spoiler though. But you have to see it for yourself!

Some mythology gags that were noted at TV Tropes concerning this movie.
* When Vexy arrives in the village, one of the Smurfs can be heard saying "She's a sassy one!" in the background. Vexy's character is suspiciously similar to the character Sassette from the animated series.
* And how do the Smurfs get to the modern-day world and back this time? Time-travel crystals, similar to the ones used in Season 9, only this time edible. And five of the Smurfs who were in the episodes (Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity) are the ones who use the crystals. They even get hurled out upon arrival the same way that they did from the time whirlwind. Of course, this would have been four if Brainy and Hefty received the crystals instead.

Vic - I don't think a Sassette reference was considered when developing Smurfs 2.

As far as TV Tropes fans are concerned, Vexy is seen as a Captain Ersatz for Sassette, being the second Smurfette created in the context of the film series' continuity.

I figured that the Naughties would have to be made from ordinary clay if they were to have light grey skin. It's just surprising to find out that's what Smurfette was from as well in the context of the film series' description of her origin, though knowing the story of her origin it's a little hard for me to see how the Smurfs could accept her as one of their own at first when she first appeared to them in the form of a Naughty.

Here's some fun trivia... Katy Perry sang backup on the Britney Spears "Ooh La La" Smurfs 2 song! Katy Perry said, "Me and Bonnie secretly did some background vocals on that song. So maybe listen for our voices." Can you hear Katy Perry's voice?

I was just thinking, the only way they're going to get the Smurfs as a 2D animated feature to play in any theatre, aside from doing a whole continuity reboot, is to have them be like how Disney used to air their cartoon features before certain other family movies. The last time I remember them doing that is back in the early 1990s, when Disney through Touchstone was releasing Roger Rabbit features before other movies, like Dick Tracy. The only problem that I can see is that Peyo Creations needs to be in constant contact with an animation studio in order to help keep the franchise alive, or else it's going to end up rotting along with every other franchise that doesn't have its creator at the helm directing it.

Ya know, I saw the Smurfs movie 3 weeks ago and I forgot to tell ALL about it, first, It was Smurfy Awesome, (to you idiots complaining that it's bad) and yes, the troubling relationship between Smurfette and Gargamel, but here's one thing I did not get.... The Smurflings were not reinstated and Smurfette says she never had a sister, but she had Sassette..... hope the 3rd movie plays a little different ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

I bet Finance Smurf is just rubbing his hands together, enjoying the thought of Smurfs getting loans to get their new mushroom houses.
