Who the heck is checking if the merchandising material is "on model"?

Very funny comment about Rosie O'Donnell. And what's "on model" supposed to mean?

"On model" is an animation term for keeping the character true to the original design. If you have 30 freelance animators doing sequences for a Pink Panther movie title, for example, staying "on model" will keep the character looking the same from shot to shot. This extends to merchandising as well, when artists not associated with the animation production are creating versions of the characters for print, toys or other media.

Here I just found a new smurf game based on the first and the second movie and i have to say that they have to paid me a million dollar to give this game a praise.

Ubisoft's The Smurfs 2 The Game - Announcement Trailer

I can't believe they're going to release this on PS3 and 360 it just so wrong even some flash games looked tons better than this.
Better hope that the movie will not share the same fate as this game. [Mad] [Embarrassed]

Published on Apr 10, 2013

RELEASE DATE: 19 JULY 2013
DEVELOPER: UBISOFT SAN FRANCISCO AND WAYFORWARD

This summer join the Smurfs and help them to rescue Smurfette in the new platform game : The Smurfs 2 the game.

Embody your favorite Smurfs and live their thrilling adventures facing evil Gargamel from the Enchanted Forest to Paris and New York.

Given that the PS3 and Xbox 360 are on their way out as far as marketable game systems, I doubt that you're going to see anything better than this for Smurf video games. Personally, I would prefer a more original Smurfs game, maybe along the lines of Super Mario 64.

When the games like The Last of Us and Beyond:two souls coming out this year at least for PS3 it's still selling and people will buy PS3 just to play these two games.
But I have to admit 360 is dead.
No doubt why ubisoft didn't make this game good not only because it based on two movies and by the records it sucked,it also that they already got their Rayman series for platform game so this simply just another easy cash-in game capitalizes on the upcoming movie.

Bad video games based on popular movie licenses are par for the course, especially when there isn't anymore excuse for it besides the publisher spending so much money to acquire the license and the game has to be developed in time for the movie's release that any semblance of quality and fun has to be sacrificed. Unfortunately, the Smurf license seems to never have any luck when it comes to being used for making good games, and the few good Smurf video games that were made for the Sega and Nintendo 16-bit systems were only released in Europe. It's only left me thinking that the Mario game franchise is what the Smurfs game franchise should have been if the licensors and the video game publishers even cared. Right now it's the app games like Smurfs Village and Smurf Life that's garnering any active interest.

Interestingly, this game is being developed by WayForward, which is also responsible for Batman: The Brave And The Bold for the Nintendo Wii.

I have some sad news about the voice of Papa Smurf. (and Grandpa in the Smurfs cartoon show)

The best-known actor, Jonathan Winters, has passed away from natural causes at age 87.

Rest in peace Jonathan, I hope you shall be in smurfier place.

Comedian Jonathan Winters dies at 87

Ann Oldenburg, USA TODAY

 -
Jonathan Winters, November 11, 1925 - April 11, 2013

The world of comedy has lost a legend.

Jonathan Winters, who was known for his improv work that inspired many a contemporary stand-up comic including Robin Williams, Jim Carrey and others, has died. He was 87.

Longtime family friend Joe Petro III says Winters died Thursday evening at his Montecito, CA, home of natural causes, reports AP.

A note on his website adds, "Rest in Peace, Mr. Winters."

Winters' career began when he won a talent contest in Dayton, OH, which led to radio gigs and appearances at comedy clubs, along with comedy albums.

He was a favorite guest on the late night TV circuit for decades, often appearing with Jack Paar, Johnny Carson and Steve Allen. And he often performed in character. One one of his best known was Maude Frickert, an old lady with a quick and acid wit. He had his own TV show in the 1950s.

Winters also appeared in nearly 50 movies, including a particularly notable role in the 1963 film It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

Eileen Schauder Winters, his wife of more than 60 years, died on Jan. 11, 2009. Jonathan is survived by two children and five grandchildren.

I just shared this bit of news on the Smurfs Fanon Wiki.

I wonder if the producers will have a dedication to Jonathan Winters put into the movie somewhere.

He was like a grandfather to me...such a shame he started his later years with the smurfs and ended his life with the smurfs, the movie better be good this time or his performance will all be in vain.

Very nicely done there, VicGeorge. And the image you used reminded me that this comes only five months after we lost Lucille Bliss.

RIP Jonathan "Grandpa"/"Papa" Winters. I hope he's in a smurfier place now with Lucille, Don, Paul, Hamilton and Kip (and anyone else I may have missed out).

Thinking back on the argument of giving fans what they want in a story franchise and letting those in charge of the franchise stick to their guns as far as which direction they want to take it in, Stephen King's Misery is a classic example of how far fan obsession can go when it's not in touch with reality.
