Now that I'm finished with the posting, I noticed an error on page 2, that the lines Hefty and the other Smurf were saying about lemonade and cookies is supposed to be that they intend on Smurfette making them for those Smurfs, which leads to that little rant near the bottom of the page of what Smurfette thinks that the male Smurfs think of her.

The part where the Smurfette needs to get her purse is funny, but plays with the sexism theme of the story. Interesting that the cartoon series never delve into this issue while also delving in the serious issue of drug addiction ("The Lure of the Orb").

Great job on translating the story. In my mind's ear I could hear Katy Perry's Smurfette getting things smurfed as well as Hank Azaria's Gargy being Gargy.
A few months back, not knowing Studio Peyo already did this in 2010, I wrote down an outline for a short fan comic story called "Mama Smurf" where Papa really does leave the village for a sorcerers' conference for a week and puts Smurfette, his assistant in the lab, in charge, and she does wear a red dress and hat... only because Papa requires her to.
The other Smurfs start calling her Mama Smurf without thinking about it because she's wearing red like Papa, and she keeps telling them to smurf it out. She worries at first about how she'll lead in Papa's absence, until Grandpa suggests delegating the duties to others. She thinks that's a smurfy idea, and appoints Grandpa and Nanny as her assistants... and Vexy as a peacekeeper (LOL).
The sorcerers' conference is a parody of endless parilamentary procedure where nothing gets done, and Papa keeps falling asleep. A new original character is introduced: Sir Culliford, an English magician who is a stickler for procedure and protocol and a good friend of Papa. Named obviously for Peyo, Sir Culliford is as rascally as "Rumpold of the Bailey" (he even affectionately calls Lady Culliford "she who must be obeyed") and rubs it in to Gargamel whenever they meet. He has a female white cat, Felicia, whom Azrael has a crush on.
Needless to say, the actual Studio Peyo story is much, much better. And I also noticed the difference in how Smurfette is drawn since Peyo passed away. I might incorporate some of its elements into my "Mama Smurf" story.

I will, Squeaky! "Mama Smurf" is an entirely different story from "Smurfette the Great", but will incorporate a few elements of the Studio Peyo story and mix them with my own:
- Smurfette and Vexy complain to Papa Smurf that the boys don't take Smurfette very seriously because of her reputation as a lady. Vex does a mock curtsey and imitates her sister's high-pitched voice: "They think all she ever smurfs about are pretty dresses, her long hair, tea parties and baking cookies! OOOOH!" Smurfette giggles. But in curtseying too low, Vex trips over herself and plants her face in the dirt.
![[Smile]](smile.gif) - One new problem that Smurfette solves as acting leader of the Smurfs is when Vexy gets her head stuck in a section of stovepipe while fixing Greedy Smurf's stove, and she walks to Smurfette with her head still stuck in that piece of pipe. "I was attaching this new section of pipe, and let's just say I smurfed a little over my head," she drolly explains. Smurfette uses soap bubbles around Vexy's neck to loosen the grip and pop her out. Blowing bubbles from her mouth, a grateful Vexy says "Thanks, sis. Now all I need is a bath. I can smurf that myself."
![[Smurfette]](graemlins/smurfette.gif) - Before Papa Smurf returns home, the Smurfs have a party in celebration of Smurfette's successful run as their first-ever female leader. Narrator Smurf offers a short but smurfy toast to Smurfette, not with a glass or champagne or smurfberry juice, but with an actual slice of toast. All the other Smurfs raise their toasts in response.
- Brainy is so obsessed with smurfing up new "famous quotations" for his next book that he isn't even aware that Papa Smurf is out of town and thinks Smurfette's wearing her red dress to flaunt to his face her role as the village's #2 leader.
- At the story's end, when Smurfette again asks Handy to fix her water pump, again he says he's too busy. Vexy, who is Handy's apprentice, shows up to not only fix the handle on the pump but show Smurfette how to easily fix it herself. She also throws one last zinger on how she's always willing to help "Mama Smurf".

In the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf series, Papa Smurf's generation was cursed and pretty much died off when Empath and his fellow Smurfs were only about 50 years old, leaving Papa Smurf the sole survivor and parental figure of the entire village.
