It's as corny as it gets, but it's an evil plot bunny that's been plaguing my mind for months.
So this is dedicated to everyone here at BlueBuddies, and if you like it I might put it up on my Fanfiction account as well, so let me know what you think. [Big Grin]

Sorry in advance for grammar/spelling mistakes, and please let me know when I screw up so I can fix it.
Enjoy! [Cool]

Mommy Nature

Mother Nature awoke to the sounds of morning; bees buzzing, and birds chirping happy tunes. She yawned, and pushed off the covers.
"Good morning my darlings," she called out the window to all the animals and plants.
She leaned against the window frame, and gazed tiredly at the forest waking up.

Lately she had noticed a hint of jealousy took over her, whenever she surveyed the growing families of forest dwellers around her.
Every morning she would stare out the window at the chipmunks, grooming together, and teaching their young to gather food.
The birds, flying quickly to their nests, where eggs waited and chicks chirped eagerly.
Tiny goslings following their mothers around, quacking loudly.

It must be such an incredible feeling, she thought, when someone depends on you like that.
Of course, nature itself and the order of things depended on her greatly, but that was not the kind of dependency she was longing for.
For some reason, this was not enough anymore.

No, what she desperately desired was something, or rather someone, who will love her back. Mother Nature loves her work, and every flower and tree she's ever created. But plants don't love back. Plants don't look up to you, they do not call for you when they are lonely, and they do not thank you for all your caring compassion.

But most of all, they don't call you 'mommy'.

There was not a lot of work to be done that day, and so, after turning the color of a few leaves, creating some flowers and ripening some fruit, Mother Nature returned to her home and sat down for a cup of tea. She searched her mind for something to brighten her mood.
She thought of perhaps taking in an animal for a pet, but quickly discarded the idea as too cruel, taking an animal from its family and natural habitat like that.

Mother Nature sat in her kitchen for a few more minutes, just drinking her tea and thinking.
She then decided that a book could cheer her up a bit. Leaving the cup on the kitchen table, she got up and made her way to her library, and reading the titles aloud, she searched the small collection for something light. Most of the books she owned were encyclopedias and gardening tips.
And there it lay, tattered and dusty, in the corner of the bottom shelf. A book of fairytales.
Mildly surprised at the odd find, she took the book from its resting place, and sat in her armchair to read it.
She flipped through the pages, observing the happy, colorful pictures, when something caught her attention.

Below an underlined title reading "Thumbelina", was a drawing of a tiny little girl with pretty hair and an angelic face, sitting in the palm of a woman's hand, smiling broadly.
Then something came to Mother Nature's mind:

SMURFETTE.

She was not born, nor was she brought in by the stork…she was made. But what with? And how? And little Sassette, she suddenly remembered, So was she.

Suddenly very ecstatic and completely confident, she jumped out of her chair and bolted back to her library. Going through her books, she looked for the encyclopedia of magical creatures. She found it, and leafed hastily through its yellowed pages, until she found what she was looking for.

"Smurfs," she read. "Three apples tall, and live in the forest…"
She read the page through, but didn't find anything good. Mother Nature put the encyclopedia back on the shelf, and continued searching her library for anything useful.
She couldn't find anything, and finally gave up. Disappointed, she sat back in her armchair and sighed.

'Papa smurf forgot a book here yesterday,' she though to herself; 'might as well visit the smurf village and return it'.
The tiny book rested on the kitchen table, where Papa had left it. Mother Nature picked it up, and opened it on a random page, curious as to what she might find inside. The writing was too small for her to read, but she kept turning the pages and looking at the strange pictures, when suddenly a folded piece of paper slid from within the pages and landed on the floor.

Intrigued, she put the book back on the table and bent down to grab the paper. She unfolded it, and was amused to realize the paper was actually ripped from an ordinary book, and folded about 6 times until it could fit inside Papa smurf's pint sized book.

Reading what was written on the torn piece of paper in her hand, Mother Nature's eyes widened. 'How to Make a Smurfette'.
It was all there, the ingredients and quantity, and a chant.
Added at the bottom of the page in Papa smurf's neat handwriting, was a potion to transform the originally evil Smurfette that comes out, into a real smurf, happy and kind.

"Blue clay…" she read aloud, "Where have I seen blue clay before?"
She then remembered. A few miles from her house, not very far from Gargamel's hovel, was a gathering of dead trees, crawling with venomous snakes. The snakes protected what appeared to be a swamp of dark blue goo. This was probably the magic clay she needed…
she hoped it was.

Her mind set on finding the ingredient in question, Mother Nature left the house and made her way to the swamp. She bent down and examined the ground.
Well, it was clay…and it was blue. It's worth a try, she thought. She dug her left hand deep into the clay, and pulled out a small lump. She played with it on her way back home, turning it in her hands and making different shapes with it.

Back home, Mother Nature took out a large cauldron, placed the clay inside, and washed her hands.
Running around the kitchen, from the cauldron to the cupboard and back, from drawer to drawer, this way and that, she collected all the different ingredients the Smurfette formula required, and added them to the clay.
Mother Nature prepared Papa smurf's potion in advance, and poured it into a small bottle. She was about the read the chant, but then she thought of something.

She stepped outside, and kneeled before the ground. With a swift motion of her hand, a tiny stalk with a red bud sprouted from the ground. It grew in mere seconds, growing taller and turning a richer shade of green, as the bud blossomed into a beautiful ruby-red rose. Smiling contently, she picked the rose, and took it inside.
Adding the rose to the cauldron, Mother Nature took a deep breath and read the incantation.

A bright beam of light erupted from the cauldron, shimmering and changing colors. When the chant was done and the light vanished, Mother Nature peered into the cauldron. Her heart skipped a beat, and her breath quickened, as she noticed two bright eyes gazing back at her from within the darkness of the deep cauldron.
Before anything could pop out, she poured Papa smurf's potion inside, and called:
"Smurfette become smurf, and before me stand!"

Shaking with enthusiasm, Mother Nature reached into the cauldron, and felt something climb onto her palm. Ever so slowly, she pulled her hand back out, and found herself staring at the Smurfette of her creation.
The Smurfette had ruby-red hair, and green eyes, the shade of a rose's stalk.
She sat in Mother Nature's palm, naked, clutching her legs to her chest.

"Good morning, mommy!" she called with a shy smile.
Mother Nature patted the Smurfette's head with the tip of her finger.
"Good morning, Rose."

Thanks alot guys [Big Grin]
And Vega, you should definitely post your's as well, I'd love to read it ^^

I was toying with the idea of how Rose would look, so I kinda tweaked a smurf coloring picture I found on the net, turning one smurf into Rose, and the other into Brainy...just because. [Cool]

Click here for a bigger Smurf pic!

Done with the mouse, so it's pretty lousy. her arm is too long, and the dress was done without much thought, I just wanted to finish.
By the look on Brainy's face, they must be talking about his books...

I just finished reading your story (while sipping my own cup of tea) - simply delightful! What a lovely little story. Your description of Rose's image was so well done... "The Smurfette had ruby-red hair, and green eyes, the shade of a rose's stalk."

Very enjoyable - I also hope you write some more for us!

I'm very glad you liked it, Sassette [Smile]
I'm trying to develop a series of one-shots in which my character meets the smurfs and stuff like that.
It'll probably take a while, because these things take my forever to write, and I'm a perfectionist.

Also, I'm currently working on another smurfiction on ff.net, so I'll need to find a way to juggle between these two, hehe...
my name is also DivineShee on ff, if you want to have a peek at the other one.

Well, here's a little something I just smurfed. hope ya like [Big Grin]

Mother Nature hummed to herself whilst fumbling through a linen drawer, and finally pulled out a white lace handkerchief. From another drawer she fetched a sewing kit, and sat down in her armchair to work. Rose sat beside her on the arm rest, watching Mother Nature at work, intrigued.
"What are you doing, mommy?" she asked in fascination.

In the last few minutes since little Rose's "birth", every time she referred to Mother Nature by that name, our hardworking heroine felt bubbles bursting in her stomach. Hearing that word caused her to experience a strange, warm feeling she'd never felt before. In her mind she compared it to a sort of a sugar rush.
Even now, as Rose emitted that wonderful, almost magical word, Mother Nature lost her concentration for a moment, and almost sewed the fabric straight into her finger.

"You'll see when I'm done, darling" she answered.

A few snips here, a few stitches there, and the handkerchief transformed into a tiny, simple dress.
"There you go, darling. Put this on before you catch a cold!" she said, handing Rose the dress.
Mother Nature watched Rose as she slipped into the dress, amused. She looked just like a doll, an adorably tiny blue doll.
Suddenly, a thought occurred to her. With a swift movement of her wand, her flowery gown was replaced by a casual red dress, and the flowers in her hair vanished.
She now looked like any regular woman.
Mother Nature tied a satchel of gold coins to her waistband, and started for the door.

"Rose," she called, "you stay here, mommy will be back shortly. You may go out and play if you like. Be careful not to go too far from home!" she said, blowing a kiss and closing the door behind her.

While Mother Nature was gone, Rose explored the house. Mother Nature's house was not very large, but for someone of Rose's proportions it was absolutely enormous. She spent the time climbing onto furniture, opening any drawers that were small enough, running around the grass outside and basically playing with anything she could find.

Mother Nature on the other hand was quite busy. She wandered around the market until she found what she was after- an old toy store. Inside, children were laughing and playing, or nagging their parents to buy them things. By the door was a rack with big straw baskets hanging from it, for carrying toys. She took one, and ventured into the large store.
Mother Nature observed the rocking horses, costumes and colorful balls, searching the store for something very different.
"Excuse me sir," she turned to the owner of the store.
"Do you have any furniture for a doll house, maybe?"
"Of course! At my store we have only the best doll houses and furniture, made from high quality wood and fabrics. Right over there to your left, by the building blocks," he said.
She thanked him, and walked in the direction he was pointing to.
Everything was small and beautiful, and looked like it was taken straight out of a fairytale.
With a great big smile on her face, Mother Nature filled her basket with almost everything she saw. Small dresses and pajamas, a table, chairs, a tiny tea set and everything from a bed to a bathtub.

When she was done, she turned to the owner once more, to pay for all the toys.
"Well well, what have we here!" laughed the owner as he saw the full basket.
"I'm guessing it's someone's birthday today?" he asked as he occupied himself with his abacus, adding together the price of the furniture in the basket.
"It's my daughter's birthday!" Mother Nature beamed, "My precious little flower."
"Yeah, kids are great. Got two of my own. I'm sure all this is going to make your daughter very happy."

Making her way back home with the heavy basket and a song in her heart, Mother Nature made a mental note to send for Papa smurf as soon as possible.
But for now, she is going home to tuck her daughter into her new bed.

Divine Sheep, your picture of Rose and Brainy is so delightful - she's really adorable with her beautiful green eyes and wavy red hair! Even though they are probably talking about his books, Brainy seems to look at her in such a dreamy way... And your story is getting much better, I liked the attention you give to details. This gives it a precious touch. Thanks!! [Happy Smurf]

Thanks alot, Sassette and Squeaky [Smile]
And you're right Squeaky, he does look a little dreamy. maybe I should have made his eyes a little more open...oh well, nevermind.

I didn't have alot of time to write anything long, but here's another little chapter.

Somewhere in the forest, 2 smurfs were making their way to Mother Nature's house.

"Honestly Papa smurf, it's not like you to forget a thing like that!" called a nasally voice, as Papa Smurf sighed and rolled his eyes, trying to stay calm at the face of the nuisance.
"You being the elder, and the smartest smurf- followed by me of course- I mean, really! It's not just any book you know, and spell books are becoming very hard to find these days…have you ever stopped to think you might need it the next day? And furthermore-"

"That's enough, Brainy," Papa said sternly. "There's nothing wrong with a little forgetfulness, it can happen to anysmurf."
"Sorry Papa smurf…" Brainy replied bashfully, noticing he did in fact go a little too far.

They were a few steps from the house, when they heard a something.
"Wait, come back!" the voice of a little girl called.
Alarmed, Brainy and Papa smurf dived into a nearby bush, and watched the surrounding from within their leafy hideout.
"Do you see any humans?" Brainy asked.
"No," said Papa smurf, "I don’t see anything."
Then the voice called again.
"Hey, where did you go?" it said, giggling. "I'm going to find you!"
Suddenly, a small creature jumped from behind the house's doorframe, making its way into Papa and Brainy's view. The creature bent down on the grass, slowly and hesitantly moving its hand towards the ground, as if trying not to frighten something that stood there.
Something green bounced away from the creatures reach, and bounded in the direction of the bush the smurf hid in.
"It's a grasshopper," said Papa smurf as the bug bounced next to him and disappeared in the foliage.
"Hey, no fair!" the creature said, and ran after it.

As the creature came closer and closer to the bush in search of the grasshopper, Papa and Brainy could now clearly see it was a red-headed Smurfette.
"I thought we were the only smurfs there are!" Brainy whispered to Papa smurf in astonishment.
"Amazing! Simply amazing!" Papa smurf breathed, watching the Smurfette standing next to the bush.

"I don't care!" she said angrily, "I'll find someone else to play with!" she crossed her arms and stomped back into the house.
When she was out of sight, the smurfs quietly walked towards the house, hoping to find out more about the Smurfette.
