Three weeks ago I attended the Maui Comic Con on the Hawaiian island of Maui on the campus of the University of Hawaii's Maui College. After I flew back home to Honolulu on the neighboring island of Oahu I drew this cartoon:
A True Blue Purple Friend - Someone on the Facebook page for the Smurf Collectors Club trolled me after I uploaded a picture of my Smurf plushies (Smurfette, Vexy and Smurflily) with Twilight Sparkle of My Little Pony, squawking that Vexy isn't a canon Smurf character because she wasn't created by Peyo and that she was garbage. I remember a lot of adult My Little Pony fans reacted the same way when Twilight got her wings and became a princess on her TV show. Feeling driven to defend my Vexy, I made this drawing of Princess Twilight encouraging her little blue friend that she knows what it's like to have the fandom suddenly turn on you. She also reminds Vexy that she has not one, but two Smurf families that love and celebrate her just as she is.

Vexy is still my favorite Smurf. Tomboys need love, too. :)

These are the plushies that got that Gargamel of a Smurf fan trolling me on Vexy:
I brought Princess Twilight Sparkle, Smurfette, Vexy and Smurflily as my traveling companions (they were my chaperones, actually ![[Wink]](wink.gif) ) to the Maui Comic Con. They are all wearing real plumerias in their hair (mane in Twilight's case) or smurfing it in their hands as Lily is. The flowers were fresh picked from the many large plumeria trees that dot the University of Hawaii Maui College campus. Now tell me, why would anysmurf get belligerent about a brunette tomboy Smurf this sweet and lovable? Her two sisters and purple pony friend say "Not on our watch!" ![[Smurfette]](graemlins/smurfette.gif)

Thank you - although the Smurf in the December image is actually my OC Aloof - he is related to Vanity tho so the resemblance is obvious tee hee ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)
