Wasn't there a black or dark-skinned smurf for an episode or two?

The Purple Smurfs, who starred in the eponymous episode from the 1981-82 season, where Lazy got bitten by a purple fly and was changed into a Purple Smurf, who then started infecting other Smurfs by biting their tails. It was adapted from the original comicbook version of the story where they changed into Black or Angry Smurfs (not racial black, by the way, but regular straight-out black). Anyway, it was changed most likely to not offend African-Americans, even though there was a one-page funny in the "Romeo & Smurfette" trade paperback by Random House where Jokey (presumably) painted himself green and behaved like a Purple/Black/Angry Smurf in order to play a joke on his fellow Smurfs, only the joke was on him when he found out the green paint was unwashable.

And of course, there was the Swoofs (also referred to as Schlips, which I think is the worst name given to them, IMO) who appeared in "The Astrosmurf" (both the original comicbook story and the episode) and "Dreamy's Pen Pals". They were just ordinary Smurfs who were given a caveman-like transformation by Papa Smurf in order to make Dreamy believe that he has been transported to another planet, although the Swoofs in the comicbook were orange and green in the cartoon show. Papa Smurf briefly transforms into a Swoof in the episode "Good Neighbor Smurf" when Brainy messes around with Papa Smurf's potions while bunking with him.
