Hi Raven Child,
I am really impressed with your tutorial on how to draw Smurf and Smurfette - nice job!
Once you've mastered drawing Smurfs with Raven Child's guide, why not have some fun drawing this Smurf picture...

And here are some original Smurf cartoon sketches of some of your favorite Smurf characters... Grouchy, Smurfette, Papa and Handy!

My method of drawing Smurfs is usually starting with the face (eyes and nose), then drawing the head around the face, then drawing the pear-shaped body beneath the head, then adding the arms and legs, then doing the details of the character itself. Papa Smurf is the character I tend to draw a lot using this method, allowing me to do things with his moustache and beard that express a full range of emotions, not to mention allowing for the beard to be trimmed down around the ears and giving him that clefted moustache that I like seeing on his face so much.
Smurfette is a bit more challenging to do since she has that flowing blond hair that frames her face. Also, I tend to draw her wearing things like a top and a knee-length skirt rather than her usual flower dress that stops at the bottom of her...underpants. Sometimes I also do the pear-shaped body if I want to give her pants or some other form-fitting outfit to wear, allowing me to put a tail on her like her fellow Smurfs. Her hands and fingers, I try to make them more slim and feminine-looking than her male Smurf counterparts.

I have to say that I've been a fan of Vic George's artwork for a long time. So anyone interested in drawing Smurfs should also take a look at his work for some smurfy inspiration.
I really like Vic George's particular picture of Empath and Smurfette kissing. And Vic George has the best animated Smurf GIFs around - the one with Smurfette morphing out ot blue clay is really neat!
And speaking of Smurfy Artists - I can't wait for another original from Brainy's Babe!
