Adventures Of Superman #441 (1988) -- The John Byrne-revamped Superman deals with Mxyzptlk in Hollywood, who first brings a Big Belly Burger statue (a Big Boy analog with a beard) to life, hurling flaming hamburgers at the Man of Steel before he just simply demolishes the statue. Then, realizing that he couldn't send Mxyzptlk back to the Fifth Dimension by having him say his name backwards (the familiar staple of the pre-John Byrne version of Superman's Mxyzptlk), Superman follows the imp to a billboard featuring various cartoon show analogs, including that of the Smurfs, and watches as Mxyzptlk brings the cartoons to life with his magic, even turning Superman's world into a cartoon world. Then as Superman deals with each of the various cartoon show analogs, Mxyzptlk brings the Smurfs analogs to Superman, literally swarming him with a bunch of thank-yous until Superman gathers them all in his cape. He ends up saying something to the effect of, "talk about talking until you're blue in the face", which gives Mxyzptlk the idea of how Superman can get him to go back to the Fifth Dimension. After the imps turns the cartoon world back into the real world, Superman does trick Mxyzptlk into painting his face blue with a special kind of powder makeup that makes his face turn blue under special lighting.
