This questions asked a bunch on here. It's a huge debate.
According to comic books and the TV show, the stork brings baby Smurfs. How cliche.

but smurfs can be made in other ways. everyone knows of the big smurfette deal.

Hehe. I remember when i first saw that "All your Smurf are Belong to smurf" flash movie. I watched it quite a few times because I found it funny and weird.
