The Smurf float is a parade float that travels along the Macy's parade route through the streets of New York.
The Smurfs Mushroom House float is actually known as a "falloon" - which is a combination of a float and a balloon.
In addition to the Smurf float, this video also includes footage of the Smurf balloon. |

There are also balloons featuring Curious George, Garfield, Yogi Bear, Bart Simpson, Betty Boop and Popeye. Did you know that Olive Oyl was the first female character in the parade's history - in 1982! Inflating the Smurf Balloon
The night before Thanksgiving Day, New Yorkers gather for another tradition - watching the Macy's Parade balloons get inflated with helium. Near the American Museum of Natural History, the huge balloons - which take up two full city blocks - are slowly blown up on the streets of New York. Sandbags and nets are used to keep the giant balloons in place during the night.
Just don't tell Gargamel about this perfect Smurf catching technique - a net and sandbags!
