I just watched the Romeo and Smurfette episode. The boys (and even Papa!) sure do fancy Smurfette. It is perfect for Valentine's Day coming up next month! Posts: 82 | From: Smurf Village | Registered: Apr 2010

Papa's infatuation with Smurfette is so barftastic, I had to do some Empath-related stories based on it, "Papa's Big Crush" and "Papa Smurf & Mama Smurfette".

When Papa Smurf swaps his personality with Gargamel's, their voices changed. Gargamel's voice was in Smurf pitch, and Papa Smurf's voice was normal toned. It was kinda freaky but cool.

Actually, they didn't switch personalities...they switched bodies. In the original story that sequence was taken from, "Smurf Of One And Smurf A Dozen Of The Other", Peyo drew Gargamel and Papa Smurf in the process of morphing into each other's physical appearances.

It is indeed a perfect episode for Valentine's Day (which is this coming Monday by the way!). And in the run up to the day, I may also put up the "My Smurfy Valentine" episode this weekend.

You're welcome, Sassette, and you're absosmurfly right. You gotta love this episode, and how can you not love Handy and Marina?
Thanks for fixing my post as well. I really have no idea what went wrong there.

Strange in the episode, "Stuck on Smurfs" that the Smurflings are mysteiously silent even though they had a major role in it.

Narrator: Far, very far from here, some 2000 miles away, that's where they live and work and plaaaay...
Smurfs: (sung in unison) Being a Smurf is good, so that's why we sing all day. We're doing things the Smurfy waaaay...
Narrator: (spoken) But there's danger there, lurking everywhere 'cause Gargamel will catch them if he can!
Gargamel: (spoken) Oooooo I hate Smurfs!
Smurfs: (sung in unison) That is true, indeed, and we will retreat, to Papa Smurf who always has a plan!
Gargamel: (spoken, while Smurfs are singing the above line) I'll get you, I'll get all of you if it's the last thing I ever do! Hee hee hee hee ha ha ha ha!
Smurfs: (sung in unison) No one will ever find the road to our hideaway, we live there happily and gaaaay... Being a Smurf is good, and that's why we sing all day, doing things the Smurfy waaaaaay!
Though this song was used in Season 1 for the UK (and other countries, I suppose), the interesting thing is that it was put in more recent seasons for Brazilian TV - translated and sung in Brazilian Portuguese, of course.

This intro was the same in Brazil too when the Smurfs cartoon show were released here for the first time in 1982, with the narrator's voice dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese.

Here's the Brazilian Portuguese version:
Os Smurfs - Brazilian Portuguese Intro [2nd Dub, 2011 DVD]
A curiosity: Orlando Drummond, the actor who voiced Gargamel in Brazilian dubbing, also played Papa Smurf in the Brazilian version of the Smurfs movie.
