I guess the title says it all. I'll just list some of my faves:
"Handy's Sweetheart" (the ending made me cry) "Vanity's Closest Friend" "Smurfette for a Day" "The Magic Egg" "Beauty is Only Smurf Deep"
How about you? ![[Smurfette]](graemlins/smurfette.gif)

Hi xSmurfettex,
I have so many favorites...but a few include:
- "The Magical Meanie" (I love the phrase 'pumpernickel pickle')
- "The Magic Egg" (Papa turns into a monkey and Smurfette shoos him away).
- "The Magnifying Mixture" (I'm pretty sure Clumsy becomes a giant and I loved his "big" voice...
- "The Purple Smurfs" (scary fun!)
So many good episodes really. I particularly like the shows that focus on "incidental" character interaction - for example, the friendship between Brainy and Clumsy. The Peyo books didn't do much in terms of character/relationship building and the NBC show really "fleshed out" how the characters got along day to day.

Wow, I was lead to this borad by a friend. You have no idea how much I used to love the smurfs, but it's now been so long since I've seen them, that I can't think of a favorite episode. Except the one with the Purple Smurfs. You know, I'd bring that episode up to people for years, and they'd all look like I was crazy. They said it never existed, and that I was thinking of another show. But, if Pap Smurf says there were purple smurfs, I know I was right.

I personally don't like how the series took a nosedive with the time-travelling episodes. If it weren't bad enough to have the series end with them being trapped in a time-travelling limbo, one could sense idea exhaustion also in the sense that they had to create duplicates of Gargamel in the various time eras that the Smurfs ended up visiting. I could just imagine the Smurfs finding themselves in Israel circa 30-33 AD witnessing Jesus Christ doing His earthly ministry and one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, being portrayed as a Gargamel duplicate in that time era, if you get what I mean.

My favorite episode is when Jokey finds the Big Book of Laughs, I enjoy one that muchly.
I also recently found a tape with a bunch of the time-travelling episodes, I couldn't bring myself to watch them all.

In no particular order.
Once In A Moon Blue Moon - Baby Smurf's debut. The Purple Smurfs - I especially liked the scene where Papa caught the fly and it gave him and a few smurfs a wild fly ride. Mousey - A very poignant story about a pet dying. Smurfquest - I loved how Sassette answered The Sphinx's riddle and Gargamel couldn't. Gingerbread Smurfs - Funniest episode ever.
And any episode that had Brainy kicked out of the village.

I liked the AStrosmurf, & King Smurf - I had the books and either read them and saw the shows or vice versa. I was young when they came out and saw the show start, and was crasy (and still am) about the lil fiugures. A lot of shows I'll watch, Ive been taping all the ones off Toon Network and watching em again. I missed a lot of seasons 6-9 tho, and its too bad those are exactly the ones they havent repeated on Toon Network. I did see some and was conflicted over the time traveling ones, it was sort of a drag seeing the show going off on a tangent. But it was really different on a creative bit, particularly leaving the village behind which was usually a focus of most shows. Other shows I really like were The Purple Smurfs 'Gnap Gnap' The Master Smurf Smurfette's Rose and Smurfette's Flower which were similar a lil and both good The Smurflings - but my only negative is I wished they hadn't used Natural Smurf, I really liked him as an adult smurf, tho i grew used to lil Nat Johan & Peewit in the GOblin of Boulder Wood and tons more, I like em all

I liked many of the Smurf episodes, I kind of cheated and looked at the episodes list to grab the titles of the shows I remembered and liked
# The Clockwork Smurf Handy's mechanical Smurf becomes a hero when he rescues Prince Gerard from his evil aunt.
# King Smurf Brainy becomes king of the village and starts a civil war when Papa Smurf's gone.
# The Magnifying Mixture Brainy accidentally turns Hefty into a giant, who brings an even bigger problem into the village.
# The Purple Smurfs A purple fly bites Lazy, causing a tail-biting purple epidemic.
# Romeo And Smurfette Hefty and Handy, not to mention everyone else, compete for the amourous attention of Smurfette.
# The Smurfette Gargamel creates Smurfette as a pawn to destroy the Smurfs, and Papa Smurf changes her into a real Smurf to foil Gargamel's plan.
# Squeaky Smurfette learns to value the passage of life when her pet mouse dies.
# A Bell For Azrael Brainy's brilliant idea to put a bell on Azrael is used against the Smurfs when Gargamel puts his spell on the bell.
# Hefty's Heart Can Hefty find it in his heart to cure himself of the "yellow hate disease"?
# Hefty And The Wheelsmurfer Hefty regains his confidence in the face of disability when he tries out Handy's invention.
# Never Smurf Off 'Til Tomorrow Handy accuses Lazy of slacking off on the job when a hurricane carries them and several other Smurfs off into an erupting volcano, but Lazy manages to redeem himself.
# The Smurflings (Season Premiere) Nat, Snappy, and Slouchy get a second childhood with the help of Father Time.
# Sassette (Season Premiere) The Smurflings create a female counterpart for themselves and a sister for Smurfette.
# Smurfquest (Parts 1 to 4) (Season Premiere) Grandpa Smurf returns to the village from a 500-year voyage around the world to restore the power of the Long Life Force Stone. Papa Smurf and a few other Smurfs help Grandpa Smurf find the purest sources of the four primal elements from around the world while the remaining Smurfs stay behind to search for the Long Life Force Stone.
Stay Smurfy! Raven Child.

I liked them all as well, although the time travelling ones weren't as good, but they weren't too bad. They seemed to drag on a bit. I missed the end or it was pulled of the air, so did they ever get back?

As far as I know, Handy, the Smurfs never did get back home. Basically, the series ended with them floating through time. *Sigh* so sad...
I personally like stories to have an ending (at least showing that they did make it home or something). Oh, well.
Apparently, I seemed to have missed the season with Nana Smurf and her strange little pet. Go figure.
Anyway, Take Care, and Stay Smurfy. Raven Child.

Actually, it is very difficult for me to decide on just one Smurfs episode -- I like all of the episodes during its NBC run from 1981-90.
But if I had to choose, here would be my favorites:
All of the episodes from 1981-82. All of the episodes from 1982-83. All of the episodes from 1983-84. Any episodes with Gargamel in it.
But my all time favorite had to be when Smurfette came to be, from the 1981-82 season.

I have to go with the episode wherein Grouchy learns how to swim. Here's one of my three fave Smurf, and most of the time his dialogue consists of "I hate _____ (fill in the blank). It's nice to have him doing something

I hate to change my vote, but I just watched "Once in a Blue Moon"--the first appearance of Baby. I almost cried. Not to mention Grouchy had an important role in it.

To Handy Smurf: no, the Smurfs never got back home. The series basically ended in an eternally unresolved cliffhanger.

I don't think there were. When The Snorks went into syndication they had a 4th season. There should have been more new episodes after the reruns ended in Smurf Adventures.

I've only read the comic book of "The Hundredth Smurf" but would really like to see it. It's one of the few comics which I actually read. In fact, I think the only other one I read was "the magic egg." I think they were in the same book.
