Hello
I am wondering if the prices for the playsets or super smurfs means that the boxes are still sealed (never opened)....OR, that the box has been opened and set is complete.
Also, is the price reflecting
good near mint, or mint
condition?

I'm not the right person to ask about this, so I'm not sure if I can help you. But I assume the prices apply to your smurfs unless they are very worn out.
I'm sorry no one posted sooner.

I tried contacting the administrator on this site, as well, for answers, but still no response after a couple weeks.
They would know best since they set up the price guide...but I don't think the administrator is active on these boards any more, unfortunately.

Yes, Papa Smurf and Sassette (Moderator) haven't been posting here for a certain time. I hope they're doing fine. If I'm not wrong the prices in checklists are usually for mint figurines, Zackmack. Anyway, this link can help you better.

Yes, the prices probably indicate mint condition. Used figures and boxes have a much lower value and are also harder to valuate.

Hello, Papa Smurf! Only I'm not exactly new here--I registered a while before Christmas of last year.

Thanks for the responses, everyone! Regarding the boxes, though, I know the general rule of thumb with toy collectors is that the 'mint' part of the evaluation is always on the figure itself, NOT the packaging.
Thus, the packaging condition is graded on a separate system. I.E. 8.5 out of 10
The separate grading system for packaging is especially important for very old toys that are not expected to have mint/flawless packaging, but rather some form of imperfection. Yet the toy inside is mint.
I think where there is some confusion or inaccuracies on the bluebuddies price guide is that it was designed to list the value for the most common form of how smurfs figure items are sold: which is loose (i.e. no packaging)
The problem is, for super smurfs and houses/playsets, they don't come loose - they all have packaging. Thus, listing the same row of prices which carries the same concept as what was used to value the LOOSE smurfs, is not entirely accurate, with all due respect.
May I suggest for smurf items that have packaging, have the price guide show two rows of value: one row for a mint smurf without its packaging, and one row for a mint smurf with its SEALED packaging at an 8.5 average condition.
And if someone has the box but it has been opened, the assumption would be that it would be valued less than the one that is still sealed.
At least with this evaluation, collector's have a better point of price reference.
Papa Smurf, is it possible to adjust the price guide as described?

Hello, Zackmack! I'm sorry that you've been agnored.
I assume smurfs that are not in their packaging, especially ones like hammock smurf, which requires assembling, as it comes in more than one piece, are worth less than those that are still in their packaging, especially unopened ones.
I am not sure if Papa Smurf will be able to change it. He does not post very often.

...................................................................................................... Now you really got me, Zackmack. I wish I could help better. By the way, if I'm not wrong the Supers are said to be a bit more expensive when their packages are "old-fashioned" compared to ones with new design. Anyway, I'll try to find more info about this. (I've been absent for a long time due to a problem in my PC - I'm posting this comment from my mobile.)
