Topic: Smurf in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and I just found out that they have added some new balloons to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York! And you guessed it... a Smurf Balloon joins the lineup!
Buzz Lightyear (the astronaut from Toy Story) and Horton (the gentle elephant from Dr. Seuss) are also joining the celebration.
I hope we can find some pictures of this Smurf Balloon to post here. I can't wait to see it!!!

I found a picture of the Smurf Balloon that will be in the parade! The balloon (57 feet long, 28 feet wide, and 47 feet tall) will supposedly be accompanied by a float and a Mushroom Smurf House...
I would LOVE to see this floating down the street!

Best Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade EVER. The balloon and float were AWESOME. It's already on YouTube for those that missed it.

OMG the Smurf Float is amazing, the balloon is better. You can really tell the technology in design has improved since I watched this back in the early/mid 80s.... (I think that was the last time I saw the Smurfs at Macys) It's awesome. (I guess it also helps having a big movie backer like Sony Animation too )

I agree, the Smurf Float is amazing. The upcoming movie has really put a new buzz on The Smurfs again.
The Macy's store in New York (where the parade takes place) had a Family Fun Day just a couple of days ago. It was an opportunity to meet and take photos with your favorite characters from the parade... including Papa Smurf! Actually, Papa Smurf is the Macy's Holiday Ambassador! They even had a special Smurf Crafts station. What fun!

I can't wait to watch the Smurfs in the parade.
There are three new balloons for the 2010 Macy's Parade: Diary of A Wimpy Kid, Kung Fu Panda and Virginia O’Hanlon.
Virginia O’Hanlon was the 8-year old girl who wrote a newspaper and received the response, "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus."

Macy's also has a special snow globe for the parade too! They have been making Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Snowglobes since 1999. The 2010 Macy's Snowglobe measures 7 inches tall and plays the song "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". And look who's inside the globe... it's Smurf!

The snowglobe also features the Pillsbury Dough Boy, Spider-Man and Ronald McDonald. They even included the famous Turkey Float.

I saw the adorable smurf balloon on tv. He showed up a couple of floats before Santa, I think. I also saw the big smurf wearing the red cap at the entrance to macy's when they went by. Very cute.

Smurfs at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 2010
I made this video for BlueBuddies of the Macy's 2010 Thanksgiving Day Parade. This part shows the Smurfs. At the end right before you see the BIG Smurf balloon (around 1:29) look carefully at the bottom left you can see the smaller Smurf balloon for the Macy's Plush Smurf.
Here are viewer comments about the parade from NBC New York:
Emily Rowlinson, a tourist from London, squealed and snapped pictures with her cell phone as the massive Smurf balloon floated by a packed sidewalk along the route.
"We don't have anything like this in England," she exclaimed. "We have parades. We don't have any sort of huge, floating beasts. It's very cool."
