The Smurf Olympics...

 -
Smurf wins the race!

 -
Smurfette takes a tumble!

 -
Hefty Smurf proves his mettle!

There could be so many fun sports that The Smurfs could do at their own Olympics!

Perhaps it has nothing to do, but I remembered the match between Rocky and that soviet pugilist.

Ah-ha! Squeaky gets it...it's supposed to mirror the match between Rocky Balboa and Ivan Drago, the Russian boxer that Dolph Lungren was playing in Rocky IV. Here, it's Empath who's wearing American flag colors and Polaris wearing Soviet-red trunks (minus any symbols). In a small way, it's also supposed to offer a rebuttal on the "Smurfs are communists" mentality to show who the real "communists" were in the EMPATH universe of stories.

As to why they're fighting each other, there's only one possible cause for this: Chlorhydris.

That's a GREAT picture of Smurfette ice-skating and "Rhapsody in Blue" is the perfect music choice!

Thanks for sharing the picture!!! I quite like the colors in the ice and the way you drew her fingertips was a nice touch.

Thanks Squeaky!!

That's right, Jokey! At first I made the drawing on paper, which was scanned into Photoshop later and where I colored it. [Wink]

That's right, Smurfy!

The 2010 Olympics Opening Ceremony is tonight... rumors say that musicians Bryan Adams, Sarah McLachlan and Nelly Furtado will perform. I also heard something about them re-doing the "We are the World" song and debuting it tonight as well... We Are the World Haiti.

They haven't said who will have the honor of lighting the Olympic cauldron (some people have guessed Canadian hockey legend Wayne Gretzky)... but maybe Smurf could carry the torch and light the flame?
