The cake with the winding staircase comes from the episode "Alarming Smurfs".

The vortex was done by creating a translucent funnel shape with Simply 3D and using a combination of a rainbow stripe texture with a watery bump map.

That vortex is so neat, it looks like a glass vase.

Polaris fails in his attempt to rescue Smurfette from the vortex and almost gets pulled into it before it closes:

Just thinking of who would voice some of the characters in this story:
Wild (actual speaking voice) -- possibly Scott Menville (the voice of Robin from Teen Titans) Traveler -- possibly Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: The Next Generation, who also did the voice of Aqualad from Teen Titans) Nabby (Greedy's brother) -- Greg Cipes (the voice of Beast Boy from Teen Titans) The "uh dude" drummer Smurf -- also Greg Cipes

The story isn't finished yet. There's still Empath coming home to find his fellow Smurfs gone and how he deals with it to put into story board form.

A jump ahead to a scene where Empath faces a night without being with the other Smurfs:

Empath remembers in a dream the conversation that took place in the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf novel:

And another dream down memory lane from the novel, Empath's first passionate kiss with Smurfette:

I particularly like the drawings from the Darth Smurfer post - great visuals! I really liked this one.
Awww... I really like the first smooch of Empath and Smurfette - such a tender and sweet moment. It's hard to see Empath so sad though.

Some particular notes: the Oggi-Ben Doggi character reference is based on the name of a Ben Kenobi analog from a Star Wars mini-spoof film called Hardware Wars, while Chubba the Fatt (mentioned by Empath) is based on the name of Jabba the Hutt's analog in a MAD Magazine spoof of Return Of The Jedi.
As for Darth Smurfer, I was going to have him without a mask but wearing glasses like Brainy, as a sort of reference to Dark Helmet from Mel Brooks' Spaceballs.

Question: what's Polaris Psyche's favorite movie with Weird Al Yankovic in it?
