It seems that my response attracted attention for a thread that needs more posts, but the film is still months away from release.
I had to wonder if the reception will be different if the entire film is CGI-animated instead of part CGI/live-action. Still I am still skeptical that the live-action film will be well-received and predict many people being dissappointed in it.
Other than the New York City plotline, I am concerned over the voices for the Smurfs and whether they can compare to the cartoon voices from the 1980s. They better be appropriate and I am watching closely on how pop singer Katey Perry portrayed Smurfette. This better not be another Tiffany performance.

Although I used the word americanised, I'd like them to get the voices accurate to the series, as Clumsy just sounds well, clumsy. Brainy was very annoying in a funny way. It just wouldn't feel right if they changed that too.
The Yogi Bear movie is imo a very good example of a decent movie, a movie which I felt was hugely and unfairly criticised. Yet they did keep it true to the original cartoon. The voices were spot-on. The gags were a bit more one-dimensionally simple in the original cartoon anyway, so I thought they did well with the script keeping it true to the original, and they kept it in Jellystone Park. Imagine if they took them out of their natural habitat and had set it all in New York too.

These new celebs voice cast for smurfs movie
better sounds good because if not it'll cost the
whole movie on string waiting to be fall when it's out of balance and i really don't want that
to happen smurfs will face a very hard time to
get to the village if this flops which is
about 60:50 for me.

While I am into "The Smurfs", I couldn't wait for them to sound close to their cartoon voices. I saw a Macy's Holiday plush ad for my Smurf plush, and I heard them (CGI Smurfs) talk, but I couldn't rewind it. Please, please, please find this commercial for the Macy's Holiday Smurf plush. I want a better look at this commercial, and to hear their (brief) voices. And when Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice awards come, maybe another Smurf commercial will come to represent upcoming movies on commercial breaks, just like the Super Bowl.

What a cute new Movie Poster! And you're correct Squeaky - that's a great improvement from Gargamel's normal pot of slim soup!

The resaon why smurfette doesn't have tail in this poster maybe because i would nasty looking
for a female smurf to have a tail,she will look
too much like an alien than a cute smurfette
It can be an offensive material for most viewers
but again we're all don't have a problem with that are we?
movie ratings tday are very restricted most must
be in PG rated or PG-13.

It also runs the risk of making her an un-Smurf, as shown with Hogatha in the cartoon show (Gargamel in the comic books) turning herself into a Smurf with no tail in "The Fake Smurf".

For me the trailer will be premiere on friday
instead of thursday due to the difference between
time zone.
You guys maybe in thursday but i'll be in friday
by the time they premieres it in US time.

It's up on Yahoo! I've just seen it, and while it's not a brilliant trailer by any means, it is still a good one. The new voices might take some getting used to for me, but the movie looks fun and cute. Gutsy sounds like an interesting new character, and by the looks of things, Hank Azaria will steal the show as Gargamel, he's brilliant.
