I hope at least they keep it within the spirit of the cartoon series and/or the comic books. Just find it a little strange for Viacom/Paramount/Nickelodeon to be the ones responsible for it.

Sorry to be a little late in replying but I'm a newbee here :-)
I'm loving the sound of a smurf movie!!!! I hope it's good quality. I could see the smurfs working in cgi animation. I hope Brainy has a good part in it *wub*
Not sure I understand the need for a trilogy though. *shrugs* Ah well, I can't wait for '08!!! :-D

that is pretty exciting news but i hope that they keep the smurfs as authentic as possible. There are some new care bear cartoons out that freak me out quite a bit and i think have kinda ruined the care bears...

I haven't seen the new care bears, I used to love that :-) It's not in 3d animation is it? I can imagen that would be look very scary *shudder*
Fur doesn't look good in cgi (unless the animators are really top notch)

3D animation doesn't have to be scary, as long as it's done right. It would be nice to have a Papa Smurf whose beard doesn't look like a giant cottonball stuck on his face, as what his stuffed toy personas look like.

I just hope it is made to be a great film and not just a cash in. Computor animation and nostalgia seem to be popular choices in the last few years. I haven't built up the courage to watch the Garfield movie yet.
I do have high hopes for the smurfs movie though and I'm really looking forward to all the promotion and merchandising!

I`m kinda curious myself how that Smurf movie will look. I would never think that The Smurfs will find their way into the CINEMA! So right now the only thing i can do except waiting, is to save as much money as i can and buy myself a ticket.

I really hope that they include Vanity and Jokey, two of most favorite Smurfs. That would be really cool! ![[Wink]](wink.gif)
