Brendan Gleeson is an Irish actor known for his well-developed and complete characters. Brendan was initially called to the stage as a teenager during school plays, and developed his talent from there. Brendan was ultimately asked to join the Royal Shakespeare Company and performed for a few years.
Making a move to movies in his mid-thirties, Brendan became famous as "Hamish" in Mel Gibson's epic-film Braveheart. He then became known to another generation of fans as "Mad-Eye Moody" in the Harry Potter series of films.Brendan Gleeson really is best known for his "tough guy" roles in movies.

THE ROLE OF "VICTOR" IN THE SMURFS 2 MOVIE |
In the first movie Patrick was nervous about being a father, and we find out why in the second movie because we meet his stepfather - Victor Doyle. In The Smurfs sequel, it is at Blue's (Patrick & Grace Wislow's Son) birthday party that we first meet Victor Doyle. Patrick's stepfather (played by Brendan Gleeson) has been the corndog king, and has no physical boundaries. Here is what Brendan Gleeson has to say about his part in The Smurfs 2 Movie...
"I read the script, loved the character, loved the part. I thought this would be fun. He's a little goofy. I was a little tense about walking the line of being a complete idiot and being a complete innocent. Victor is more innocent than an idiot, I think. You have to trust a lot of people to be able to go there."
Brendan Gleeson's character gets transformed magically into a duck in The Smurfs 2 Movie...
"I'm very well acquainted with my duck alter-ego. I did an opening gambit with the duck, we shared a set at one point. I think we were in tune with one another. The day before I left to come over for the first rehearsal three mallards landed in my front garden and flew away. Two males and a female, so I took that as a sign. Then this morning I woke up and heard this noise outside, I thought they were crows, then I realized it was a duck. Then I forgot that I had actually set my alarm to a duck noise. Obviously something very weird is happening." |

TRIVIA
Brendan was a real teacher and played one in Harry Potter. He was a teacher for 10 years before becoming an actor. He has taught in the subjects of Irish, Maths and English.
Brendan often works with Liam Neeson.

FUN FACTS
* Brendan has played the fiddle since he was 17. He played the fiddle in the movies in Michael Collins and Cold Mountain.
