Anton Yelchin is an attractive and capable actor. Born in the USSR (now called Russia), Anton emigrated to the United States with his parents when he was six months old. He has always wanted to be an actor and told his parents as much when he was only four years old.
Best known as Pavel Chekov in the "Star Trek" films and Kyle Reese in "Terminator Salvation", Anton is also an accomplished actor having appeared in movies with both Robin Williams and Anthony Hopkins.
Anton Yelchin plays Clumsy Smurf in the the Smurf movies. Emphasizing his own naturally youthful qualities, Anton's Clumsy Smurf is quiet and passive as opposed to previous boisterous interpretations. Make no mistake, however, Anton Yelchin's Clumsy is indeed very clumsy - and has a big heart, just like Anton! |

Anton Yelchin's performance as Clumsy is a little different than the Clumsy that diehard Smurf fans might remember from growing up. When interviewed about his role as Clumsy Smurf, this is what Anton Yelchin had to say...
"I was familiar with Clumsy from the TV series, where he had that Southern twang. I went back and watched that, and then Raja, Jordan and I talked about it. We decided to make Clumsy a little simpler, a little sweeter. His voice is pitched higher than my normal speaking voice - it's full of joy, optimism, and enthusiasm for life. Clumsy isn't trying to mess anything up for anybody - he's just clumsy, and actually, he's tired of being clumsy." |
