Snorks vs Smurfs. The Snorks are colorful underwater creatures that live in Snorkland. All Snorks have that instantly recognizable snorkel on the top of their heads. The main characters include: Allstar, Casey, Dimmy, Daffney and Tooter. The trouble-makers of the show are the Govenor and his snotty son, Junior. The Snorks had a popular TV Show that ran from 1984 to 1989.
The similarities between Snorks and Smurfs are quite remarkable, but Snorks are not actually related to Smurfs! Snorks are mulit-colored creatures that live in a underwater world, whereas, the Smurfs are simple blue creatures that live above ground in the woods. Still for many people, Snorks will always be thought of as the "Smurfs of the Sea"... and they are both cute, friendly and fun to watch!
The Snorks started as a Belgium comic in 1974 and was later adapted into the 1980's Saturday morning cartoon. Along with the popularity of the TV show came many great collectibles and toys. The 3-inch Snorks PVC figures are quite fun to collect. There were also Snorks books, stickers, pencil toppers, puzzles, keychain whistles, wind-up walkers, plush dolls and more. There was even a Snorks lunchbox, an adorable Snorks radio and the Snorks Adventure Board Game! With the passing of time, these toys become harder to find and much more collectible. Luckily with the release of The Snorks DVD - we can still all enjoy watching the Snorks today!
