I was wondering which episode the Smurfs are created in.
I heard a weird story that the Smurfs all popped out of Gargamel's head and that is why he wants them back so bad.
Any truth to this whatsoever?

Not sure there was an episode where any Smurf (other than Smurfette and Sassette) was created.

Is there a creation story anywhere, like any Smurf lore that was mentioned throughout the seasons or perhaps in the show's bible...

theyre not created.
They just appear and thats it. The Smurfs have always been there and always will.

No true! While most of the smurfs are 100 years old (so I've read; don't have the episode reference), Papa Smurf is supposedly over 500 years old. This, of course, implies that smurfs were not always in existence...

Well, even though there has been no real record of the origin of the Smurfs...I have, however, started to write about it in my latest fic "How Things Smurf" (posted on my website and on fanfiction.net) I've done 10 chapters already, and yet there is more to explain...
Hopefully after when this story is complete it will give everyone an understanding of the origin in some sense (or you just might think I'm crazy). Either or, it would be interesting in finding out what everyone will think when the story is complete.

No such episode exists that remotely shows this.

No. But it will be explored when the movie comes out in 2008.

There was also "The Hundredth Smurf", where Vanity's double made its first (and presumably only) appearance by being created from a reflection in a mirror.

THe Smurfs all popped out of PEYO'S head but not Gargamel. Gargamel made a smurf allright, Smurfette!
