Here is the drawing I made my mom for Mother's Day! It's Billy Joel, and my mom's a big fan of him like I am and The Stranger is her favorite album by him. I was wondering what yall think of it.

And here is a Billy Joel collage I made where I got a bunch of pictures and put them roughly in order of his life. I'm sure there are some mistakes in order, but I'm sure it's somewhat accurate. I also put the album or single covers in with a red border.

 -

(sorry it's really bad quality, but I had to shrink the picture a lot to make it fit on BB and I don't have any good programs on my computer to do that yet so I had to shrink it with paint)

In addition to Smurf fan art, I have developed my own original characters over the past several years. Many of them are Hawaii-themed, based on my trips to the islands in the past. Among them are "Ricki Lee & Tony", a young couple living with their biracial cousin Lisa (aka Cousin Lee) and all their kids in Honolulu.

 -

Ricki Lee's sitting down, her husband Tony is standing, and Cousin Lee is to the left.

There is also "Alpha Girl", a lovably nerdy Honolulu schoolgirl who gained superpowers after a lightning strike when she was younger. She was created in response to the popularity of Sailor Moon, but she looks a little like Atomic Betty.

 -

And finally, there is my newest animated character "Javier the Sloth", a likable three-toed sloth whose wit is infinitely faster than his moves.

 -

I started creating Smurf fan art this summer and it's unleashed a tsunami of creativity that I haven't had in several years. But these are some of my other characters. Just as Peyo had Steve Strong, Poussi the Cat and the Snorks, I have my own stable of characters as well.

You can see an entire gallery of these cartoons on my website www.newportmuse.com.

Have a smurfy day and thanks for reading.

One of my favorite Youtubers is an impressionist by the name of Brian Hull. I was watching some of his videos and after he said something about there not being many cartoons about his favorite animal, which is an elephant. (so I don't think he's ever heard of Babar... But I'm not sure you have either... Whatever back to the point) And then he also said something about his favorite color being orange.

So I put this little guy together once I got my phone to cooperate with me and download a drawing app...

What do you guys think about it? Did I do alright?

I think he's simply... ADORABLE! [Enamored Smurf] He reminds me Scamp, Lady's and Tramp's playful son.

Thanks, Squeaky! [Big Grin] I made him while I was spending the night at my friends' house... Their mom said I should call him "Lucky," because as we were in the truck, his little paw fell off... But as his name suggests, we were lucky enough to be able to reattach it while still on the road.

So this puppy actually has a pretty good story to go with him...

I'm going to have to be extremely careful when I go to paint him... What colors do you think I should use?

Posted by Matthew Grisham (Member # 6579) on 07-24-2018 06:24 AM:

Maybe you should color it light yellow (for the fur) and black (for the nose).

Very well done job featuring yourself in a South Park look, MC! [Happy Smurf]
And Ariel, here's two color suggestions for your lovely pup:

 -

Light grey and white (I agree with MG, black for the nose).

 -

Rust and white.
By the way, its tail tip could be painted in white as an added cute touch for both cases. [Wink]

Here are the paints I have to choose from... I might have to mix grey if I decide to paint him that color...

Also, I had an interesting idea... How about... Patches???

Here we go, guys! Lucky is all painted and I think he's looking pretty good... What do you guys think???

 -

Sadly, the tip of his tail popped off while I was working on his coat of paint... But as his name suggests, I was lucky enough to figure out a way to fix it... By using a little bit of my mom's fingernail glue...

I was up until 2:30 in the morning working on the little guy... I was terrified of breaking him... I'm just glad it was only his tail and not something else, like his ears that fell off... Can you imagine how hard it would be to try to glue on a paper thin piece of clay like that??

Actually, it isn't Sans... I was trying to think of something to draw and of course, when it's around Halloween, skulls, witches and stuff like that are the first things that you think of... (besides, Sans has both of his eyes, and his jaw bone is a bit wider than the skull in my picture is

An attempt at humanizing the 1971 PBS logo letters into human people with different personality traits.

P-Head is the shy, soft-spoken and timid one. He has blond hair.
B is the athletic one. He has red hair.
S is the grouchy, smart, short-tempered and sarcastic one. He has black hair.

The characters you depicted have quite the attitude, Flying. And great technique too! [Happy Smurf]
What has Gaston got in mind now? Just some of his crazy ideas, I suppose... Cool job, Matt! You look nice in SP style by the way. [Big Grin]
And here's Ideiafix (that's how Asterix's and Obelix's inseparable pet is called in Brazil)! [Wink]

Hi, everysmurf! I'm currently doing a web-series called "Web Pitches" where I pitch my ideas for TV shows and movies, the first episode is where I pitch my idea for a DW reboot and I need someone to animate/storyboard this theoretical quote: “Look, I’m a Darkwing fan ever since I was this little! Please, Mr Boorswan, it’s for my daughter.” – Drake Mallard, holding a photo of him holding Gosalyn as an egg (credit goes to u/oPHILOSORAPTORo for the idea of Gosalyn being Drake’s biological daughter in the reboot)

Seeing the topic, might as well post it here!

Hmm... I'll consider it... (just storyboard tho don't have software to animate)

I'll just have to go look for reference pics...

Here's a work I did for a fairytale contest on Deviantart: Mother Holle. I found more interesting putting the old lady at a window than at the door, for a funnier effect. [Big Grin]
One can read the tale here.

Thanks, Squeaky Smurf! Yes, he's very friendly.

Sorta like a three eyed extraterrestrial puppy with a stinger on his tail.
