The "Soup A La Smurf" adaptation is not finished, and I'm not sure if I will finish that one given that "Smurf Soup" has been released.

Just for fun, I was thinking of doing a re-adaptation of "Smurf Versus Smurf", where the argument the Smurfs are having is over something ridiculously implausible in their time period -- which game system is better, the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360.

Edwardies, with the exception of the first three, the rest in your list either have already been translated into English or are in the process of being translated. Unfortunately, I do not own a copy of "The Law and Order of The Smurfs" to possibly start any work on it.

Speaking of Les Schtroumpfs de L'Ordre (or Law & Order Smurfs!), here is the sketch that was the basis for the first page of the book. The Smurf designer, Jeroen De Coninck, did the original sketch and then you can also see his finished work!

Just got finished with re-adapting "The Fake Smurf" and now thinking of "The Hundredth Smurf". Still wondering about how to do a parody adaptation of "Smurf Vs. Smurf" where the difference that the Smurfs argue about is game systems.

I had a thought about Smurfs comics that you guys might appreciate. Here's something I wish Papercutz would do: I'd like them to start making new comics. By all means, continue the Peyo reprints until they're ALL reprinted, but make some new stuff as well. I'd like to see maybe one monthly comic with an ongoing storyline, and a side comic called maybe something like Smurfs Double Feature. Double Feature would have two short stories every month, each one focusing on a different Smurf. For example, Smurfs Double Feature: Hefty and Vanity would have them both on the cover, and feature one Hefty solo story and a Vanity solo story. There are enough Smurfs where this book could go on for quite some time. Come on, Papercutz! Let's do this!

Studio Peyo is in charge of developing the comics. I doubt that they would give that job to anyone else without their consent. Of course, what I would like to see is a collection of all the Smurf stories that were published for Schtroumpf magazine so that the English audience would get a chance to see them as well.

Smurfs anthology from Papercutz is a great series. Are they going to release any post-Peyo books written by his son? There is a ton and I think a new one was released just this year.

Is there one for The Masked Pie Smurfer? Because I know it has appeared in the comics in the past, but never in English as far as I know.

There's "The Masked Smurf", which Papercutz has released in The Aerosmurf.

But is that the same story as The Masked PIE Smurfer? I just ordered the book on Amazon, so if no one else knows, I guess I'll find out when it's delivered.

I guess no one else knew the answer or has the books. I received my order from Amazon today and got The Aerosmurf. "The Masked Smurf" story in this book IS in fact about The Masked Pie Smurfer that the episode is based off of. Finally able to read it in English and it's fantastic. These Papercutz books are smurfing awesome. Definitely pick these up if you can. All available on Amazon. I just got paperback rather than hardcover. Cheaper and takes up less space on the shelf and it's all you really need.

gangster smurf:

As far as I know, Gargamel hates the Smurfs because they are so relentlessly happy, cheerful and helpful to all creatures great and small... even to humans when they are in dire need. Gargy, on the other hand, is relentlessly angry, bitter, selfish, fails at everything he does, hates everybody and everything, and even resents his dear Mummy. [Gargamel]

The TV series, and probably even the next Smurfs movie scheduled to come out in 2016, explains that as a young Harry Potter-type student in wizards' school, Gargy first encountered the Smurfs in an attempt to capture them and use them in an alchemy spell to turn them into gold. The films and the official Smurfs website (smurf.com) have changed the story so that Gargy simply wants to suck the essence out them to not only create mounds of gold, but also rule the world.

Gargamel has been obsessed with the Smurfs ever since. Unable to capture them to turn them into gold, his hatred of them has grown into a vow to either eat them all up or destroy them altogether. "I'll get all of you Smurfs if it's the last thing I'll do!" is a familiar catchphrase of his.

Thankfully, Gargy is such a bumbling failure as a sorcerer and such a whining loser that it's virtually assured the last thing he'll do is actually breathe his last. The enduring appeal of the Smurf franchise has been the various ways Gargy has tried to capture the Smurfs and how they either end in hilarious disaster or are easily foiled by our little blue friends. Very much like the quixotic battle of Wile E. Coyote versus the Road Runner. You know Gargamel will never catch the Smurfs, but the fun part is seeing how he epic-fails this time around. [Smile]

Posted by Squeaky Smurf (Member # 2416) on 08-09-2014 12:49 PM:

I think the main reason why Gargamel hates the Smurfs is because he never conformed to be defeated, after they saved a Smurf who had fallen in the sorcerer's trap. Since he always considered himself a great wizard, this was a tremendous blow to his pride. [Smile]

If anyone is going to smurf a book, I would smurf Smurf v.s. Smurf! It's kind of like in the human world, where sothern people talk different (and better) then city smurfs...'specially at school, it turns out in a fight on who is right and who is wrong...I think that that is where Peyo got his inspiration. Anyway, this story really smurfed to me in more then one way, and I would smurf that if there is one story to read, it's Smurf v.s Smurf! [Smile]

Really, teeny, I don't have a favorite...sometimes they look kinda weird how their drawn, but you can't help just watching more and more! I really do like smurf colored glasses though...However, I have to take a little break from 'em...I have all the episode (in oarder) on a hard drive, but since I ended 6th grade, I could not stop watchen 'em! So, me mum banned them from the house for a little while...*sad*.....
Oh well, I have over two dozen smurf books, and Im well enough to sort of read now....so...Yai,yai!

And don't worry if you have a short feus teeny, everyone blows up every once in a while...('specially red-heads! ) Like me!!!
YOUR A GOOD SMURF! [Wink]

I was also looking for the Smurfette coming, and the 30-day free trial offer sounded really enticing, but I can't get it because I don't have a credit card...

Nope, Redneck; I tried all the links you and Lucky mentioned and several errors came - and even a so-called 'You Tube Contest Thumb' (I've never heard of this!!) appeared, not even letting me close the page. I had to turn off the PC to get rid of it.
About the 30-day trial offer, pity; I suppose it expired, for I didn't find it either.
The matter is that I haven't come here for a certain time, for I had a family loss (my brother passed away). [Frown]
But thanks a smurf for your kindness and goodwill to help. [Cool]

At last I got it! In two versions, by the way: the oldest by Hodder and Stoughton (1978) and the latest by Papercutz (2011). [Smurfette]

Can someone explain why the black smurfs were turned purple at one point?

Posted by VicGeorge2010 (Member # 300) on 12-22-2016 03:20 AM:

The Black Smurfs were made into Purple Smurfs in the English translation of the story because it was thought to be racially offensive to present the characters as Black Smurfs.

You guys should really post up more of the Papercutz versions of the comics. And also, you should post up the new smurf comics that they do, like the Smurf Anthologies or maybe even VILLAGE BEHIND THE WALL when it comes out.

Vic is right, since Hanna-Barbera had realized to change their colors when the Smurf cartoons were produced then, in the 80s. [GNAP!]

We've been doing it, Royal, although not all of them are Papercutz, depending on what version we've found. By the way, I found the two Smurfette comics by Hodder & Thoughton and Papercutz. I realized to post both because I imagined it would be interesting that everysmurf could observe each English translation and differences between them. [Smurfette]
About the latest Smurf albums, I'm not quite sure if there are already ones in English; yet Smurf Anthologies are available (on Amazon, for example), but I've not seen them for download so far.

Actually even earlier than that, when in Romeo And Smurfette from the Smurfery section, they had to change Jokey from painting himself up as a Black Smurf to painting himself up as a Green Smurf. Papercutz changed it to purple when they reprinted Smurfery.

Question, I wonder if "The Village Behind The Wall" was any different than The Lost Village movie? Kind of curious as I'm thinking about picking it up.

Shouldn't be too hard to get, I ordered "The Smurfette" at a local book store and was going to try doing that when the time comes when I can buy it.

I like to think of it as like a continuation of the movie or an expansion of the movie in a way, taking place after the movie.. but it's still entertaining! [Big Grin]

I'll be sure to order this next time I run into that book store. I love it when tie-in stuff for movies does continuation or new adventures using its characters and world, so that's cool in my book.

Thanks for the answer.
