Hello.

Sorry if I haven't smurfed here for a while (and posted any Smurf art too), but many unexpected things took place in my family.
My father (he's 84 now) got some health problems a certain time ago. He had fallen in the street after leaving my nephew at school and after doing some physiotherapy he got better considerably, but as time was passing by we observed he wasn't just the same. After new medical exams we were told he probably had an ischemia in that accident.
But some months ago everything seemed to change for bad: he began to have much difficulty to walk, and as time was passing by he had to wear adult briefs. Recently we gave him a bendable armchair and a hygienic wheelchair. We have tried to make him get as comfortable as we can.
My mother suspects he has had a mild kind of stroke during his sleep some weeks ago, because he can't stand his own weight and his right side seems to be paralyzed. So that we think of asking for a computed tomography at hospital in order to see if something serious happened.

So that I have delayed to post something here, but whenever I can I'll smurf you a 'hello'.

Keep on always smurfin'!!

Hi again.

Thank you so much for both care, wishes and prayers full of kindness, all of you.

Unfortunately my dearest father didn't resist and passed away last 17th at 8:25 PM.
Few days ago he had developed a pneumonia that brought about fits of coughing and fever that went and came, but after taking an antibiotic he recovered and looked fairly better.
But on Wednesday my sister warned me by mobile (I was shopping then) that my mother had to take him quickly to hospital (he was 40°C fever) where, despite the prompt and very good treatment, he had two cardiac arrests - and didn't resist...
On getting back, my mother told me he didn't even suffer - it happened in a soft way.
His burial was the day after. Deeply we already knew that could take place sooner or later, but anyway took all of us by surprise. And there was always some hope he would recover and have a little more time among us, but he looked so thin and weak (lately could hardly eat or drink despite our efforts) that God realized to call him. So he's resting peacefully now.

Once again, thanks a million to my dear blue buddies for the words of care and comfort. My mother, brother, sister, nephew and I are thankful to all of you.

..................................................

And Oakley Brainy, my wishes of much health and happiness to your dear grandmother.

Nice to know your grandmothers are doing well now.

...................................................

Concerning relatives, this year was harsh not only for my family (my mother's two sisters had already passed away after long illnesses three months ago) but also for my sister-in-law: her father died in September and his health was very fragile too, but in his case due to diabetes.

Once more, thanks a million for all the care of yours.
My elder brother had come to Rio (he lives in an inland city from the State of São Paulo) in order to help and orient us with death certificate, military pension (my father belonged to Brazilian Air Force) and security legal papers. Yesterday I accompanied my mother to the local Aeronautics Command with all the necessary ones. Sad to have to deal with that, when certain things are so recent yet.
We've tried to give her as much support and comfort as we can, for, despite she's been brave, I know she deeply feels rather fragile. She and my father had met 65 years ago (she was 16 and he, 19) and gotten married 4 years later, in 1951. It was such a very long life as a couple!
