I agree, TV channels shouldn't meddle around with the show's creators like that and I personally think someone or some company make a new smurfs cartoon show, kinda like a revival. How does that sound?

It would be cool that Veronique Culliford sign agreement with Disney to make a new Smurfs cartoon show, produced by DHX Media Vancouver(formerly Studio B Production). This would become into a Internet Memes and create a new fandom to compete with Bronies (Fandom of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic), and create a Convention similar to BronyCon, and appear in D23 Expo.

I totally agree! It would carry on the smurfs tradition, even the way Peyo intended it to be !!! and Welcome to Bluebuddies, Oscar 95!! ![[Graduate Smurf]](graemlins/graduate.gif)

Studio Peyo either partnering with Disney or even being bought out by them would IMO be the best thing to happen to our friends since Peyo parnered with Hanna-Barbera three decades ago. Apparently that has been an internet meme and/or rumor since the first Smurfs move. Until such a thing is actually reported in the news media, don't hold your smurf. Remember what Abe Lincoln said about quotes on the internet.
Disney at one time held the rights to Marsupilami, created by one of Peyo's friends, and ended up being dragged into endless lawsuits because Marsu's creator felt Disney pretty much butchered the little guy and didn't know how to market him. However, Disney was at the time run by Michael Eisner, and today under Bob Iger's leadership the company is far more cooperative and friendly with outside properties.
Seeing Papa Smurf and Smurfette hanging out with Mickey and Minnie at Disneyland would be a smurfy idea. But until an actual deal is struck and reported by CNN or ET, I'm not getting excited.

Do a Google search on "disney smurfs deal", "disney smurfs talks" or "disney buys smurfs". Apparently some Smurf fans think they're all true. But remember Abe Lincoln. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

If Disney buys the Smurfs it means ESPN could have Smurf mascots on Bronco Stadium's SMURF TURF (it's a blue field in Boise)

OK Today marks the day that The Smurfs 2 finally landed on Thailand! But really it's certain to know i'm going to watch yet another disappointing smurfs movie considering I already watched The Legend of Smurfy Hollow few time already... But i'm going to watch anyway can't wait to see how many people are going to watch it since the launch of The Smurfs Thailand were severely affected by Thailand big flooding that span almost three months (Late September-November 2011)

It would be a cold day in Hades before we ever see the Culliford family give up their prize characters to someone like Disney.

I still wondering why can't they just made it in-house like any other studios in Europe? Maybe they can't afford that... OK at least give it to the company who cares about the property and not milking the hell out of it. (like Sony doing now) and put their faithful movie on the bench, never to get the spotlight to be shine on it so now in the eyes of most people it's going to be those big movies that got all the rep very bad rep... While their gaming division plowed through all obstacles their movies division have now made nothing but bad movies yes they made good movies as well but the bad seemed to outweighs the goods.

The world of video gaming is where the Smurfs have really taken off, as evidenced with the popularity of the Smurf Village online game and The Smurfs and Company. There seems to be some fidelity to what would be called the Smurf canon. Just as with my own fan comics, all the characters from the comic, TV and film universes come together to create one happy smurfy setting.
As for Studio Peyo trying to produce new animated content themselves, it might not happen in the near future. It's primarily a comic book publisher, and nowhere as big as Marvel or DC. The last time they tried to animate their own Smurfs was the infamous 2005 UNICEF television ad where the Smurf Village was bombed to supposedly shock people into demanding an end to child soldiers in Africa, and it became an epic fail that haunts Studio Peyo to this day.
Finally, it seems that the studio just let Sony re-imagine and reinterpret the Smurfs however they wanted for a new generation of North American fans not familiar with the little fellers. And it seems that the writers' only experience with the Smurfs was the notorious "Smurfette Show" satire on "Saturday Night Live". Unless Studio Peyo gets personally involved with a future "Smurfs 3" and goes back to basics on their characters, I don't expect a full trilogy to be completed, let alone redeem itself with a better sequel.
As for a studio that really cares about the source material, unfortunately Hanna-Barbera doesn't exist anymore, and my own little studio Newport Muse is just a one-man operation. But you never really know... ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

This is my review of The Smurfs 2 on Metacritic (I was going to post it here but i can't access to BB yesterday so i got to make do with Metacritic)
OK been waiting for months for The Smurfs 2 finally arrived at the land of smiles (just about the most fitting place for Smurfs to live!) I'm pretty disappointed in this movie as a big smurf fan I'll go straight to the point for the good the bad and the verdict. The Good: -Improvements in cinematography,it's far more colorful this time around and the camera tricks works brilliantly at most part lighting is about right not too bright and not even one scene look dimmed. -Good voice acting...ok for the most part Jonathan Winters did a swansong and each voice actors actually playing against each other now. -It got THE HAPPY ENDING,just perfect! too bad it's the best scene in the movie (because it's ending...) -The cuteness and chemistry between Clumsy Vanity and Grouchy is literally off the chart!
The Bad: -Inconsistent pacing,it actually all over the place the movie takes way too long to starts and by the time you starts to really get along with the lovely blue buddies you realized it took over an hour mark by that point which is just about the same time movie starts to slow itself down and it drags pretty badly. -Very predictable story just like the recent Doraemon movies Smurfs 2 story is all too obvious to the point that i can see what's going to happen next right away coupled with inconsistent pacing makes it a pretty boring movie for anyone above 9 years of age. -Messy dialogue often I find the smurfs are way too talkative at the wrong time like a very emotional climatic moment and that's just ruined the moment, everybody tries too hard to steal other smurfs spotlight with series of one liners way too often which is very annoying and it goes one through the whole movie. -Oh poor Azrael it's unnecessary to have him at all in the movie since all i see him doing is just fooling around and just there to get beaten for 40 minutes this is just wrong I know he's a bad cat but **** why it always have to him to take the beating? -Bunch of bad jokes wasted on so many potentially good scenes it interfered the flow leading to its inconsistent pacing. -Unfunny Garmagel He just...bored and tired just like Hank Azaria he just stopped being funny and even worse stopped being a charismatic villain which we all knew him for.
The Verdict: It's an OK movie for kids pretty boring for adults it just more of the same with the added family elements which is pretty forced and mostly ineffective to most audiences at least they got good message for kids unlike the first movie which it got nothing and The Smurfs 2 fortunately starts to really shines...just few minutes before the credits roll... You want The proper smurfs movie look somewhere else stick to both of Sony's recent mini-movies and you watch that you'll realize you just wasted 100+ minutes on the disgrace to the smurfs franchise. 6/10

The social media games seem to be the only videogame adaptations of the Smurfs that are even remotely workable and successful. In other genres of gaming, the Smurfs haven't really taken off. It's only recently that they've got another 2D platforming game, which is okay if you like a somewhat stripped-down New Super Mario Bros. But The Smurfs Dance Party? Smurf Racer for the Playstation? It seems like there's just too many restrictions in the licensed property to make them work properly (either inherent or enforced by the Culliford family), or the producers don't care because they're not big-time characters like Mario and company, which is probably why you won't see something like a Smurf version of Super Smash Bros., which I think would be a great idea if the Culliford family would allow some leeway to let the game developers tinker with the characters.

I'd get a kick out of a Smurf version of Super Smash Bros., getting to have Brainy vs. Clumsy or especially Vexy vs. Hackus beating the smurf out of each other. But that's still not very smurfy, and not what either the Cullifords or many fans have in mind.

It would be cool that Disney Interactive Studios make a Mickey Mouse/The Smurfs Crossover Game.
There's 2 Options:
* A Revival of "Magical Quest" for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Clumsy Smurf and Brainy Smurf as they rescue Smurfette from Gargamel.
* A Spin-Off of both: Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Game and Mario Party named "Mickey Mouse and The Smurfs at the Adventure Game".
Which one is Better?
