Ok, so I follow Butch Hartman, the creator of the Fairly Odd Parents, on twitter and he gave us the challenge of drawing Timmy Wanda and Cosmo in the style of other cartoons. Naturally I chose the Smurfs. How'd I do?

Oh my smurfness... Greedy Smurf was given a cake which might be such a BLAST! Oh, that Jokey... [Roll Eyes] And what cute little Smurf with the new movie look! Great job as usual, Masked. [Happy Smurf]
And Ariel is having a bad dream... Poor little one, her expression says everything! [Eek!]
Bone and his cousins having a smurfy time with Peewit and the Smurfs at Smurfday party!! Very cool idea, Matt! [Big Grin]
And it's very nice to see for once your Smurf artwork, Flying Smurf! Very spontaneous style!
Timmy looks so cute and funny in a Peewit-like appearence, Dove. And so is Smurf as Cosmo. I only don't remember the little fairy who's playing the role of Wanda... Is she one of the Pussywillow Pixies?
A Deviantart fellow had suggested me a love scene between Papa Smurf and Smurfwillow, and I realized doing it... with a jealous Flowerbell added. [Wink]

Actually, Squeaky Smurf, the fairy I used as a base for the appearance of Wanda was the Tooth Fairy from the episode "Sassete's Tooth Fairy" of course, I had to alter a good couple of things to make it partially recognizable as Wanda (ie. hair color and style, dress and shoe color, etc...)

But all in all, I honestly think it turned out better than I had expected it to. I was having a good bit of trouble with finding a proper picture of Peewit to use as a model for my "Smurfitized" Timmy, and when I couldn't find a picture of a male fairy for Cosmo I just decided that he would probably be happier if he got to be a Smurf. [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Also, check out the adorable picture that flying smurf drew for my fanfic!

Yes sir that's what we've been up to. I'm proud to admit that I was the one who drew the one with the Fairly Odd Parents Characters as characters from the Smurfs TV series...
Unless you don't like it, that is... In THAT CASE I'll just stick to working on my fanfic. I've still got a lot of work set out for me....

More pictures of The Smurfs, drawn in the bizarre, early 30s Fleischer Studios art style.

1. Smoogle-in-a-Box (Jokey and Brainy Smurf, with Smoogle)

 -

2. Cuspidor Dance (a tribute to the 1933 Fleischer Popeye short, "Blow Me Down", starring Brainy Smurf)

 -

3. Not Amused (Papa and Brainy Smurf)

 -

Heeheehee... Very cute pictures... But might I ask : what happened to Brainy Smurf in the second picture? I mean, I'm sure he's still pretty mad about being surprised by Smoogle and Jokey Smurf. But it looks like he's got flowerpots stuck on his feet. How did that happen?

These are cuspidors, not flowerpots.

It was when he was dancing, instead of constantly talking through the whole act.

Note (non-canon to the Smurfs franchise):
His bragging know-it-all personality is not showing at all, so he's more of a Generic Smurf in these pictures. The apprentice and bragging part don't come until the early 40s, after the move to Disney in mid-1933.

Oh yeah... I actually used to have a DVD of old Popeye cartoons... Such as the one where Popeye takes Sweet Pea to the zoo, and those in which Popeye is either feuding against a swarm of termites, or Sinbad, or his usual adversary, Bluto.

Nice job!

Though, of course I don't think Brainy would agree with me on that... He'd probably say something along the lines of :
quote:
Hey! Why am I always the smurf of everybody's jokes? Just once, I'd like to smurf them a piece of my mind....

It's not like he doesn't always do that anyway.... It's just that nobody wants to hear it... Heehee

Mmm-hmm.

I even added spin lines for the stars, when Brainy gets smurfed in the face by Hefty.

Smear frames didn't come around until the late 30s-early 1940s, where rubber hose animation began to decline for more natural, realistic, dynamic and cartoony animation.
