I am doing a project and i need to know where i can find and download the opening credits that run before each Smurfs episode.

You can purchase the Smurf credits on brand new Smurf DVDs right here. They not only contain the Smurf opening credits, but the full episodes as well.

I think there are at least nine different opening sequences for the show, each of which aired on each of the years of the show's original Saturday morning run.

The 1981-1982 season has the spoken prologue.

The 1982-1983 season has the "smurfsong" opening.

The 1984-1985 season is the one, I believe, that has been used for some of the WorldVision-released Smurf VHS tape collections -- the one where Azrael runs straight into the screen and gets stuck in a log that he chases the fleeing Smurfs into. That one also has been used, in edited form, for the Smurfs Adventures syndicated show.
